Alterations/cleaning wedding dress

I bought a sample dress in October. After purchase, I realized is very dirty and needs a full cleaning. Has anyone used Professional Cleaners in Sandy Springs? They stated I need to get the dress cleaned first because
1. dress has been stretched through fittings and the fabric may shringe back after hand washing
2. alteration thread used may not be true color of dress
3. dress not pressed so length for hemming may have been inaccurate.

They said it would take 4 weeks to clean. The alteration person said it would take 6 wks to alter. (should not have procrastinated smh)

Has anyone done this before? Any opinions?

  • Hi -
Try Professional Cleaners in Alpharetta, GA.  They are located near the intersection of HWY 9 and Old Milton.  Ask for Joann.

They do wedding gown cleaning and alterations.

    They are awesome !!

  • We work with a company called Fairway Cleaners in Villa Rica, GA. They are amazing. Tell them Gabe's Downtown sent you and they will give you a discount. They are a completly green company as well. May be a little drive, but it will be worth it.
  • I highly recommend taking it to Sandra with Gale Morgan Gowns in Marietta for the alterations.  She's really reasonable and did an amazing job with my dress.  I bought it from a consignment shop and she modified it in numerous places.  She cleaned mine too, but it wasn't really dirty.  She also made my bridesmaid dresses and the ring bearer vests and ties.  You can call her at 770-578-6599. Good luck!
