You could try art students that specialize in photography. Most college photography students should have a portfolio and would do it for very cheap + a reference and permission to put pics of your wedding in their portfolio. If you're not comfortable with a student then look for photographers that have a small package that includes just the photo cd with copyright release (so you can print out your own from walmart or something).

What's your budget? Besides a student photographer, I would also suggest checking craigslist.

Try Rebecca Bunch. I know some knotties have referred her before and she has very low rates. www.rebeccabunch.com

I was thinking about her but didn't want to say anything since I've not had any experience with her.

I booked Rebecca for my wedding in October.  I recommend meeting with her to see if she will be a good fit for your wedding.

When you say you recommend meeting with her to see if she's a good fit. Do you mean she's very particular or something? Did you like her??????

    Cheap is kind of subjective...
What is your budget? Im sure we can help you locate someone that will be a good fit if we have a better idea of what coverage you are seeking and for what price range.

I booked DomFoto, my package was $1300 for 8 hrs of photog and all images on a CD.  I think he had a cheaper package that was fewer hours.

Katie is such a wonderful person (I went to undergrad with her) and my sister hired her to do her photos. The engagement session turned out great and Katie's combined portfolio and prices are hard to beat. :) I'm definitely hiring her as soon as I confirm my date. :)

Does your venue have a facebook page, or a website? If so, check out the photos and see if there is a photographer that you like. It's best to have a photographer who has worked at your venue before, so that you can see what your photos will look like, and also because a photographer will get to be an "expert" in shooting at certain venues, and will know all of their rules and how to best work within them.

I would avoid friends and students. They will do their best, but you are making such an investment in this day, you want photos that will capture your fantasy.
