help with photographers

I went to a bridal show today, and I met two photographers that I really liked. Has anyone heard anything about either D&F Photography or Gene Ho Photography? Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much is your package and what does it include?

package with D&F is $2,600 and includes:

6 hours of coverage on wedding day (up to 2 locations)
unlimited amount of photographs taken
Engagement Session
2 8x10 or 4 5x7 photographs
all photos published on website for 90 days for ordering
disc of all high resolution images
75 multiple size photos arranged in 10x10 collage album

Is this a good deal or should I keep looking. Also, if anyone cares, here's the website to look at their portfolio

Not sure about Gene Ho's packages. The only package that offers digital copies is the premium package for $3,700. But it also includes 2 parent albums, 100 wallet size, canvas portrait, Framed 11x14 bridal portrait, plus all the regular stuff such as coverage, album, and engagement session.

That is on the high end.  If the work is quality and you go into it knowing you want to pay a higer price and you feel it is worth it, go for it! But if you are looking for a better deal, you can probably find quality packages for something in the 1600 - 2200 range.

Sometimes the price is higher if they have an impressive portfolio. For example, the photographer we are using has been featured in The Knot, Jezebel magazine, and a few other published works. She is a friend of one of my closest friends so I have seen tons of her work and love it (our wedding won't be magazine worthy, believe me).

You can DEFINATELY find something cheaper if you look :)

I wonder if Prince William and Kate are registered at Target?

If you really liked the people you met, and it's in your budget, I say go for it. Your photographer is the one vendor you deal with the most--before, during, and well after your wedding.

Having said that, it might be worthwhile to look a little more. There are definitely good quality photographers for less money, and if you click with them personality-wise, it's a marriage of its own sort!

    Good luck!

Who are you using for your weddings? How did you find them?

Do you really need 100 wallets? I would negotiate stuff that you don't really need out of the package to see if you can get the price down.

Check out Michele Mabie with Everything Lovely photography.  Her work was beautiful and she was great to work with.  Her packages are much less than that.

I booked Gene Ho for my photographer. I LOVED them. I got the $1,700 package, and they were able to swap some things out for other things I wanted based on my needs. Talk to Melanie Snare. She's awesome. I booked Erin McCoy and she is a brilliant photographer. Here is our engagement shoot. I'll be happy to share our wedding link when we get that back too.
