Reception Venues South of Atlanta

Hey y'all!  I'm getting married this October, and we are in dire need of a venue.  At this point, we are still very new to the actuality of wedding planning as opposed to the fun idea part of planning.  We're looking for a venue that's south of Atlanta - McDonough, Stockbridge, Locust Grove, Forsyth, Griffin, etc. We're on a TIGHT budget, and we'd really like a venue with a location fee of less than $1000 for the whole day, and somewhere that is BYOB and allows you to use any vendors you want.  Now here's the kicker - we need to be able to squeeze 100-120 people into this place.  We would be open to using the site for a ceremony as well or to having the ceremony elsewhere.

Any help would be SOOO appreciated.  Thanks!

We are getting married at Nash Farm in Hampton.  We rented the barn (fits 300) for $300 or you could rent the house (seats 125) for $300.  It has a gazebo and includes round tables and chairs.  You can have your own caterer and everything. The only thing is you can't serve alchol, except a champane toast.  And we are getting married Oct 10th and we reserved that whole weekend for $450, so it wouldnt be available then.

When we were venue hunting we also ran across a place in Griffin, I think it was called the Castle or something.  Pretty much it is a family that has opened up there huge home to do weddings. They have a nice pool and gazebo area.

You could rent a pavillion at Atlanta Beach, there is a really pretty one near the lake there, but the only thing is, if it rains there is no backup.

You could check out Indian springs or High falls area and see if there is anything.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

You could check out the Castle of Paradise in Griffin, GA.
You can only hold the ceremony and reception outside, but that place looks amazing! I was seriously considering it, but adding tent rentals incase of rain put them over my budget.

Oh, this is the castle place the above poster was talking about.

    Good luck!! :)

We had actually really wanted to rent Nash Farms; I had emailed the girl there and she said the barn would possibly be completed NEXT spring?  So, I had asked about renting the Carriage House and she said that was booked through all of October.  :(  Maybe I should call and ask again just to make sure.

    Thanks y'all for the suggestions!

Yeah, we rented the barn and it is incomplete. And they have no plans to finish it. But she gave us a good deal.  You should ask her if there is a waiting list.  There is another place in Clayton County called The Shamrock Building. It is owned by the water authority. It is beautful but books up pretty quickly.  They usually have a waiting list you could be added to.

I am using the old Log Cabin in Fayetteville.  It is cute inside, large enough for your guests, and you can serve alcohol.  I rented it for the entire day and paid $475.
It is actually the American Legion Hall post #105.

mnidvr, do you have a website for that venue?  I tried googling it, and all I found was a facebook page, but I was hoping to find some pictures.

    Thanks for the suggestion!

I am getting married at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, but you have to use in house for all food. The rental is $950 for facility which includes chairs and tables.
