Why did you pick your wedding day?

Hey everybody! School got a little crazy for me, but I'm back now. I'd like to try to get this board more active. So, I thought we could talk about why we picked our wedding day.

FI and I have a weird thing about numbers. We started dating on 12/10/2010. Our birthdays are also repeating numbers. So, we wanted a date that was similar to that. All of the dates we liked 1/12/12, 12/12/12, and 2/12/12 we already booked. Instead, we picked 3/24/12 because all of them are multiples of 3, and we moved in together last March. It's going to be at 3:00. We started thinking about it and realized that we'd be together a little over 15 months when we get married. So, 3 seems to be our new number. Haha.

We actually changed our date three times, the first was October  2011, but I have a huge work conference in November so October was going to be crazy. Then we picked April 7, 2012, but then a friend of mine also chose that date and had a fit, so we decided to be the bigger people. May 12, even though it's the day before Mother's Day just worked for us.

Wow, it seems like you and your fiance put quite some time into choosing your wedding date. I love significant or even a play on numbers as well. Originally, my fiance and I wanted to marry on the anniversary of the proposal (august 3rd) but it conflicted with too many of our families' plans. After some thought, we randomly chose Sep. 22 (it just rolled of the tongue & for some reason, I liked the double 2s lol). But unfortunately, some issues & misunderstandings occured with our reception venue and they abandoned our reservation, taking upon themselves to change our date for some time in Oct! To keep the wedding in Sept., we had to choose their next available date which was the 15th. So, I guess the answer to your question as to why to the date is because the guy at the reception venue is a screw up lol smh.

I understand that, mari. My cousin and her boyfriend (they're not even engaged yet) had their heart set on a September wedding. FI and I share the same September birthday, so we had thrown around that idea. We didn't want drama, so we ditched that idea early on. Now, she's mad because we're getting married before her. I hardly talk to her though, so I just ignore her. Haha.

bsims, That's near my birthday, so it's good luck. Haha. It sucks that you had to change your date, but it's good that you didn't have to change your wedding location or any drastic changes. Did they give you a discount or anything for the mess up?

Fi is obsessed with the number 9.  It was his number in hockey and football for almost 20 years! I like the number 3, but not quite as extreme haha.  The only 9th day of the month that falls on a saturday in 2012 is in June and so that's how June 9 came about.  I love the play on numbers 6-9-12 and the fact that they are all divisible by 3.  AND Fi will never forget our anniversary now haha

@nyc1210 Lol I hope it is lucky, cuz I could use all the luck I can get. Yeah, I'm glad that I didn't have to change the venue because it really is a fabulous place and it's located right across the street from the church. No discount or anything from the venue---I'm not sure what we should do but mom is insisting we all go down to the place to speak our mind and have a discussion.

nyc1210 we are date twins yaaaay. 3.24.12 is the weekend before our 7 year anniversary. We are renewing our vows since we never had our wedding, and our elopement was in Vegas so we are considering the event our lucky 7.

Our date is 5.25.12. I was the one who picked it, mainly because he doesn't really care about picking details. I graduate from college on May 12th and wanted to get married shortly after, but long enough that I had time to unwind from graduation so the choices were between 5/25 or 6/1. We chose 5/25 because this year is my parents 25th wedding anniversary and because it's my grandparents wedding anniversary.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who plays the numbers game! It makes me feel a little more sane. Haha.

Our date is 11/17/12. Originally it was 10/27/12, but then I went on a planning hiatus and realized it would be here before I know it. There is no significance. We wanted 11/10, but the venue was booked, so the next weekend we went, which is the Sat before Thanksgiving (maybe I'll cut out some of my guests because of that!)

We got engaged 10-2-10, our date we wanted was 10-20-12, that date was taken at this venue I fell in love with, I wanted an october wedding so we moved it to 10-27-12. A friend of mine's is that day, but we are both fine with it. Not close friends, old friend from high school I keep up with. We've changed ours times over. It first was 9-10-11, then 5-5-12, to 4-14-12, but now it's 10-27-12. I like halloween time, just a fun time of the year, so there ya have it. I figured who cares what the date is, when u get married whatever the date, will forever be YOUR date

We originally picked March 17, 2013 because that is St. Patricks Day and since I'm Irish and we are having a fairly Irish traditional ceremony we thought it fit.  UNTIL we tried to book our reception at an Irish Pub....on St. Pattys Day.  So we had to move it out a week later to get the venue we wanted.

We got engaged on 12/8/2011 on a Thursday and will be getting married on 12/8/2012 on a Saturday.
