Wedding Receptions

How long are they usually?  Now that i'm the one planning it out for my own wedding; I don't remember!!!!  I don't want it to go on forever, but I don't want it to be too short either.  My reception is starting around 3 or 3:30 pm.

    3:30-4:30- cocktail hour
    4:30- Bridal party intro
    4:40- B&G intro
    4:45- B&G first dance
    4:50-6- dinner
    6-6:30- dancing
    6:30-6:45- toasts
    6:45-7- cake cutting
    7-7:30- dancing
    7:30-7:45- bouquet & garter toss
    7:45-8:15- dancing

Ours will be 3 hours, with a cocktail hour.

    4-4:30- Ceremony
    4:40-5:50-Cocktail Hour
    6:00- BP intro
    6:10-Our intro
    6:15-Our first dance
    6:20-7:00-Dinner/dancing- jazzy light music
    7:00-toasts
    7:25-cake cutting/dessert
    7:30-8:00-dancing (including FD/MS dance)
    8:15-bouquet and garter toss, dancing
    8:45- last dance
    9- exit

It just depends on how much dancing/partying you'd like to have, and how much your vendors are charging. My DJs cheapest rate included 3 hours (won't be playing during cocktail hour) and we decided not to have him stay around for an extra hour before or after.

Ours is going to be about 4 hours. It will probably go over...big drinkers in attendance :)

I wonder if Prince William and Kate are registered at Target?

Ours is about 3-1/2 hours. We have time stipulations at our venue: ceremony starting no earlier than 6pm...everyone off premises by 11pm (county regulations) and DJ needs 45 minutes to pack up.

Ours is going to be 4 hours, with an after party to follow at the hotel (I rented a private bar/bartender).  We have some serious partiers.
