Hard time finding a Venue near atlanta ga

Im having a hard time finding a place to have my wedding near Atlanta GA.. are people usually willing to drive a little over an hr for a wedding?

Re: Hard time finding a Venue near atlanta ga

  • If you are saying that they would drive for an hour for the Whole wedding/reception, then yes. If you are saying that they would drive and hour from the wedding to the reception, then probably not.

Where in Atlanta have you looked? There are tons of great venues in Atlanta. What are you looking for in a venue and what is your budget? Perhaps you can get some suggestions if you can assist with a little more information.
  • There are plenty of locations with in a 30 minute drive of downtown.  What type of location are you looking for?  Is there specifics that are keeping you from finding what you are looking for?

  • I would say that most people would be okay with an hour drive there and back. However, I wouldn't......

Have the wedding on a Friday or Sunday. On a Friday people will have to take off of work early or even take the whole day off just to get to your wedding on time. On a  Sunday they will probably have to leave the wedding early so they/their kids are not up too late for work/school the next day (assuming that the wedding isn't during the summer break)

Have a morning wedding. On my weekends I like the chance to sleep in a little. I would imagine that as a guest driving an hour or more to get to your wedding, I'd be pretty ticked if I had to get ther by 10. I have to make sure that I am ready to go by 9 (at the latest) - and getting ready for a wedding takes time, especially if you have kids!

Have a late night wedding. The latest I would start is about 6 pm. Just think: if you are starting the wedding at 6 pm, and your ceremony takes 30 mins, and your reception is in the SAME place, your won't even have dinner until about 7 pm the latest. Then if you have the standard amount of "party time" (4 - 5 hrs) people are home by 12 - 1 am. And obviously if you have to travel to your reception it wlll be even later than that (depending on where it is).

Have a non-meal reception. As a guest travelling an hour to your wedding, I will have to add feeding myself/spouse/children a filling meal to the preparations. Also, I have to figure out when the best time to feed everyone is. If I do it too early, we'll all be hungry during the reception. If I wait too long, I worry about having enough time to get everyone ready. And no one wants to eat fast food in their nice party clothes - again, especially if they have children.

But, like BeverlyandMike said, you should have plenty of options. We might be able to help you if we know enough information about your wedding, such as:
    Number of guests
    Budget for the venue
What kind of venue you're looking for (all inclusive, outdoor, loft, ceremony/reception in one, etc....)
Where in Atlanta you live (Downtown, North, South, OTP...)

    Good luck and happy planning!
  • Can you provide mosre specifics as to what type of location you are looking for?

I wonder if Prince William and Kate are registered at Target?
  • I finally am booking our venue tuesday! I never thought the perfect one would come around and I would find it! I'm so happy. I've searched EVERYWHERE, so give me the what type of place, guest count, basic info like that and I'll send you some info I know for places. My place is 45min away, but closer for most guests. I'm doing mine around 3p starting on a saturday, so we eat about 4 and it's early to where it's daylight. Willing to offer you suggestions. Let me know. Us brides on here are willing to help others save time we went through already.
