Smashing the cake in eachothers faces - cute or corny?

I think it's a little overdone but it doesn't bug me when people do it.

I agree, poke.  FI better not do it to me on our wedding day though.  I can see him thinking it would be oh so hilarious to do that.

Not a fan of it in general...DH and I had a convo prior to reception that we would behave and not smash :)

I don't care either way... but FI has begged me not to do it, so I guess we won't.

I know it sounds prissy, but I'm paying someone to do my hair and makeup that day... I really don't want to have to go to the bathroom and wipe it all off, or re-do my hair because there's cake all over me.  Just my person opinion.

EXCELLENT point! Never even thought of it, but that makes a lot of sense.

I agree with all of you...I don't want cake smashed in my face on any regular day, why would I want cake smashed in my face on my wedding day when I have on a fancy dress and paid for someone to do my hair and make up!

I wouldn't mind a little smudging on the cheek, but I went to a wedding where the groom went after the bride even after he smashed it in her face to get it in her hair!
