Reception Wording

Hey there fellow brides, I have a question about wording for my reception! Our ceremony will be held at a church and will begin at 7:30 p.m. Immediately following (there will be a 15 min drive from church to reception site) will be our reception. We are thinking with commute from church to reception site, the reception will start @ 8:30. I am not serving dinner because I believe it is TOO late. Instead we will be serving passed hors d'oeuvres and beer, wine and cocktails. How should I word this on the reception card? I know ppl will not expect dinner, I am thinking of saying "Cocktail Reception to Follow". I think that ppl will get the idea that we will have some food......opinions!

I used Cocktails & Hors d'oeuvres Reception immediately following.  BTW, the hors d'oeuvres were PLENTY!!  We didn't get to the reception until about 8:15, although some hors d'oeuvres got passed before we (couple) actually got there to give people munchies!  We got married on a Friday, so this was a little more essential

Some people might actually expect enough food to make a meal off of. I eat dinner at 6, and if most of your friends and family do too, then you should be fine. But some people eat as late as 8 or 9. I think the wording you chose should be a good indicator though, and have your family and WP spread the word in casual conversation that guests might want to eat something before coming or en route to the wedding.

I too would expect dinner at an evening wedding. However, if you word it correctly no one will be let down. I like "cocktails, hors d'oeuvrves, and dancing immediately following at reception venue." Is there dancing? I like when that is included, it makes it sound like more fun!
