I never had any luck with bridal shows.  The first thing any of the vendors would do when I approached their booth was look down at my ring finger.  When they saw that I didn't have a platinum-set monstrosity, I'd get a snotty look, and they'd walk over to someone else.

That sucks, Hydrophile! I've never been to a bridal show, so I wonder how they would react to my saphire engagement ring! 

I guess they'd have to know the back story of how he secretly got it during our last trip to Burma....you really can't put a price on sentimental value!
