Unexpectidly Nice and Easy Gift Baskets (Cracker Barrel)

EDIT: Er...UnexpectEdly. I swear I can normally spell!

I wanted to put together gift baskets for people coming to the wedding from out of town, but I didn't have a lot of cash. So I went to Cracker Barrell this afternoon to stock up on some cool looking candies to use as filler. Turns out, they do free gift baskets there that actually come out looking really nice. They put everything in striped cardboard boxes with lots of filler on the bottom, so everything is proped up nicely. They also put plastic wrap and white ribbon around the box, as well as shrink the plastic so that it fits snugly.

I put together five baskets with a range of cheaper candies (stuff that was just a dollar or so but looked nice, like pecan divinity. I also did things like get two boxes of moon pies (24 total) for 8 dollars. I took the individual pies out and put in a few per box).  In the end it cost about 9 dollars per basket. There was ZERO fee for the gift basket or wrapping.

However, it did take some time for them to shrink the plastic, so be warned you may be waiting awhile.
The best thing to do is probably to pick out everything for your baskets and get a cup of coffee while you wait. There was also only one person who did the gift baskets at the one I went to (Jimmy Carter location--Rosa did them, she was great at finding cheaper stuff too), so you may also want to call ahead.

Anyways, I'd been stressing out so much about finding cheap baskets and getting this done, I thought you all would like the heads up this option existed!! I had no idea myself until today!

Thanks for this tip.  I had no idea, and I think it would be great to create some gift baskets.  I am thinking of doing gift bags or something for our wedding party.  I know it helped in one wedding in which I was a bridesmaid that there was a "survival kit" that included a bottle of water, advil, tylenol, pepto bismol, oil blotting sheets, deodorant, Listerine strips, mouthwash, Q-tips, etc.
