HELP!

My finance and I are thinking of getting married in September or October with a $25,000 budget. We like outdoorsy/rustic (without being too Southern).
I (the bride) am Vietnamese and would like to do most of the traditions.

We are having trouble deciding the timeline with the intercultural wedding, finding an affordable nice venue that will fit about 350 wthin the budget!.

Any ideas on possible locations that would have a nice cerermony area and would fit 350 (again within the budget?)

Thanks!

Also, any tips with intercultural weddings or Vietnamese traditions would help also!

Re: HELP!

  • See what others say but as far as I know the only venues in town that can accomodate that many people are going to be hotels. KTN Ballroom can hold that many but it is way north of the city in an industrial park.
  • I'm ot sure exactly where in the Atlanta area you are wanting your wedding to be but I do know of a somewhat new venue. It is called A Time to Share and is located in Villa Rica, GA. They are doing some more renevoations to the back barn and will be able to hold 350 inside soon. He said the outside space can hold a lot more than that though. The directors name is Heather and her number is 678-898-6156. I'm a local caterer with Gabe's Downtown and have worked out of there before. So I know they do outside catering, but the cost of the venue is pretty inexpencive in comparison with most Atlanta venues and it is beautiful. The owner has been in professional landscaping for a while.  I hope that helps.
  • I've come to realize that the more you invite, the more money you spend. Our budget is $15000 and we've already gone over. We're only having 125 people come and our caterer is $8000, not including alcohol. Most venues I looked at only accomodate up to 200 and they were STILL expensive. Its gonna take a LOT of research.

But, DONT just research through google.. You wont find what you need. What you need is land especially if you want something outdoors. Someone who knows someone who knows someone who has land. Get what I'm saying? These message boards will help as well. Unfortunately I dont know of anyone. You've got to save money where you can and booking a place who wont let you bring in your own beverages, decorations, or caterers will screw you.

I got quoted $14000 for food, venue, and beverages. NOT INCLUDING: my dress, invitations, DECORATIONS!, etc. I luckily found a great space in Roswell (Gardens at Great Oaks) that lets me bring in my own alcohol. Thats where you can save a LOT of dough!

OH! and you can buy anything you need on www.BravoBride.com! I also bought my dress for $250 on www.LightInTheBox.com. It was PERFECT! Looked EXACTLY like the picture. You're on a tight budget with a LOT of people to feed.. Skimp where you can and splurg where you feel its needed.

    Good luck!
  • OH! and if you find a place that is privately owned.. Just ask. I would consider it flattering if someone said they thought my yard was beautiful and they would love to get married on it. Whats the worst they can say? No?

If you DO get a "Yes!" then you'll need to rent everything! Use the companies against eachother. Chairs, tables, linens, tents, etc. They can work with you if you say you found it cheaper! Trust me. I got my chair price from $2 a piece down to $1. For you that would be $700 down to $350. Thats a lot of money saved.

Also, if you can bring in your own alcohol/beverages then go to your local liqour store and tell them whats going on. Tell them you have a LOT to buy and you can buy it in cash, "what can we work out?" They WILL give you a discount. Most likely 20%.

Youre a bride on a budget... Don't feel bad if you can't play nice. ;-)
