Mashed Potato Martini Bar?

http://sandiegocooks.blogspot.com/2009/06/mashed-potato-martini-bar.html

I saw this on a catering menue and looked up more about it. It looks like an absolutely fun and adorable idea! I was wondering if any of you have ever actually seen this in action?

I really wish that we could afford to do this... I love mashed potatoes, and am known for my killer mashed potato making talents LOL. I saw this at a bridal show back in January and fell in love.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure it's not one of those things that I like but everyone else thinks is tacky. And @ MeganJ26 - do you think you could do it yourself? Your caterer/venue might allow you to add that on the side. My cousin had catering but did her own candy buffet.

We are already pretty much doing the catering ourselves... we are ordering a crap-ton of chicken primagera (however you spell it! lol) from Jason's Deli to be delivered to the venue, and I am doing apps, salad, and drinks myself, plus some cookies. I will have to hire some people to prepare and refill the buffet.
I would love to do it, but it's not in the budget :(

Aww! Well, there are always other parties down the road. The good thing about this is that it's relatively cheap (as long as you're not doing it for 100 or so people!)

We're doing this for sure!!! I've been in love with this idea since it was on an episode of Oprah a few years ago- some special about entertaining. I have been to a few weddings where it was done and it is SO MUCH FUN! FI and I are pretty big mashed potato lovers, so it just makes sense :)

I haven't seen this with mashed potatoes, just grits, but what a great idea! Go for it! Not tacky at all :)
