Has anybody looked at the Venetian Room downtown? What do you think?

I looked at Defoors Centre yesterday and LOVED it. However, with my guest numbers I want to look at other spaces that will allow me to bring my own caterer to bring the F&B costs down.

I was there yesterday! I was wondering if anyone from our board was there... We loved it too ( but we were kinda sold from our first visit).

I guess I'm going to have to go see Defoors Center.

I tried to look at the pictures and it just didn't really do anything for me. It could've been my ADD though. Sometimes I have a hard time processing info if it's presented in a cluttered or busy way and I think there were just so many pictures that it was hard for me to really process it. :-(

I guess we'll go check it out.


Tell me about the Venetian Room, pls.

Whoa. I love the Venetian Room!!! (Question though, where is Hurt Plaza? is that near 5 Points? I've seen the building but for some reason, I can't picture it).

I wonder if it's a bit pricey though... $2500 for just the room. I'm thinking food/bev would end up running another $5000-$10,000. That's a bit much. I think that if you use a facility's caterers, they should comp the venue fees... but I know that's just wishful thinking. LOL

I visited the Venetian Room.  I liked the reception space, it is beautiful, but I did not like the idea of having my ceremony downstairs in the hall way.  I did get some pictures of the ceremony space transformed, but that adds an additional $1,200 to the budget for draping.  

I also lost interest when the communication on the part of the coordinator got really spotty, and inconsistent with the discussions.  It was my second choice, but I have decided not to pursue it.

The pictures are a bit deceiving, as the bar takes up about a half of one side, so depending on your guest count some people will need to sit upstairs.

MrsSmith2B02 and Soon2BSand - that is too funny! I was at the Defoor Centre yesterday too. The FI didn't like it so it's out of the running for us.

TeamUS2012 - I think the Venetian Room is just a place you have to see in person to evaluate it. I've been to a party there, it was nice but I wouldn't like it for my ceremony or reception, it was a little choppy to me. But, I know it's a matter of personal preferences so it's what you think that is important!

It's different ..... very. Either you love it or you don't. Its not traditional at all and very old but I adore the place.

Exactly! I've been looking for a contemporary space and a chandelier (LOL) and that works for me. However, I was just looking for reception space because we're having a church wedding.

I got the policies and pricing from the Venetian Room.....its out of the running. They have too many inconsistent and hidden fees for using outside catering. Well, not hidden, but added fees that are unnecessary.

I'm still bragging about those Chicken Dijon in a Puff Pastry. OMG I think that is what sold me. LOL. You liked the Red Velvet? My first choice was the White Chocolate Raspberry. MMMM YUM!
