Is This Weird Or Normal?

So FI and I got a STD in the mail today and I went to their wedding website and saw this:

Additional information

The wedding will be a black and white affair.  The couple is asking all guests to wear black.

For the record I ADORE this couple, and FI is one of the GMs. I'm just asking because I thought it was RIDICULOUS to ask people to only wear one color, but FI thought it wasn't a big deal. In fact he said, "They're probably just trying to keep it formal". For a 1pm wedding? Hmmm...Is it just me or is this a bit much?

I think that's a bit weird too! If they want it formal fine but who wants all their guests in black like a funeral?

It's a bit much. You're not supposed to dictate people's clothing unless it's for religious reasons (i.e. "You won't be let in our church if you're wearing a bikini") or it's a black tie or white tie affair.

That said, at least it's not "You must wear chartreuse with pink accents"?!

Meh.  I wouldn't mind the whole black thing.  What i think is weird is that for such a formal event the time seems to be pretty early.

I also agree that it is odd for an afternoon wedding as well as rude for dictating the color the guests should wear.  I would think black tie is fine if its at an extremely formal venue but that's just over kill.  Also what about the people that don't check the website? Are they going to refuse you to come in if you aren't wearing black?

Exactly this. It won't be black and white, it'll be black with a touch of white. This is very weird IMO.

Weird.  Didn't Kim Kardashian have everyone wear blakc and white to her wedding?  It's a like dramatic for me.

I think it's a bit weird- but it depends on what they actually meant, black tie or wearing black only??

It doesn't really bother me- probably makes it easier for me to pick out an outfit to wear for the wedding! But that's probably just me.

I think it's very odd - especially for a 1:00pm wedding

HOWEVER

I wouldn't make a stink about it - and I'd just go along with it.

Come to think of it... every girl can pull off a little black dress, easy, but don't men in black look weird? FI would have serious trouble with an all black outfit.

Yeah - I have NO idea what FI would wear. He'd look like an undertaker in all black.
