Can you still return registry items for cash?

Just wondering.

I've heard you can, but when I went to return something I was told I could only get store credit.

If you tell them you were told you would get cash back for stuff on your registry they will give it to you.

I've had them do both, so I guess it depends on the cashier.

I've gotten cash back every time I returned a registry item and asked for it. if you don't ask for cash they'll give store credit.

I got cash back in Oct/Nov for registry items. I'm not sure if its changed since then.
