Anyone picking their wedding date based on food availability?

I live in Colorado, do you think early October is going to be too late for a local, seasonal menu?

Re: Anyone picking their wedding date based on food availability?

  • I don't live anywhere near CO, so I'm probably pretty useless.  Maybe try posting on the local CO board and ask if anyone buys locally and what stuff is usually available in Oct.

  • October makes me think of squash, pumpkin, foul, and currants.  What were you thinking about in terms of October food?

I picked my wedding date based on the flowers that were in bloom, so why can't you pick the date based on food availability?  I would start visiting the farmer's market and local produce stores to figure out what will be available to make sure you like the seasonal vegetable options.

Yes, I'm definitely planning summer 2012 due to the availablity of Jersey Fresh produce.  It should be easier to find a caterer with the goal of local/organic, but so far I've found one caterer and one venue (does on-site catering).  Suppose it makes my decision easier!  =)
