175 guests for 10k in Eastern PA...it is possible??

Hi all,
Yes you read that correctly 175 guests, my fiance and I have large families and plenty of close friends. I;m looking for a venue that will accomodate our party size as well as our wallets! We are in the Philadelphia area so we are hoping to stay on the eastern side as the majority of our guests will be coming from New York/North Jersey-hopefully the commute won't be for than 3 hours.

We initally found this LOVELY place, Casino at Lakemont Park in Altoona, PA but that would be a 5 hour drive for our guests. We are trying to make it so they could just drive down and back with an option to stay overnight, not a requirement because more likely our wedding will be on a Friday or Sunday (gotta take advantage of those off-peak prices!).

Our wedding planned for spring 2014 but I would like to get a jump on things because time travels and before you know it venues will be filling up!

Thank you!

  • Mermaid Lake in Blue Bell has a room that holds 175 and there prices for food are below average.
  • Spring Mill Fire Hall in conshy, I think.

  • Have you check out Concordville Inn is in Concordville, PA? I know that it was a good price.
  • I don't have any venue suggestions off of the top of my head, but I want to chime in and say, yes! it's possible! I am working with a small budget and a large amount of people (same deal-- two big families!) and we are making it work. Perhaps it takes slightly more effort than either having a bigger budget/only inviting 100-125 people, but you can do it! good luck =)

  • Oh, I thought of a place. My friends from PA go married at Lakeside Manor in Voorhees/Gibbsboro, NJ, and it was a relatively inexpensive deal for both ceremony & wedding. If you must stay in PA, I wouldn't be an option, but if you were willing to consider South Jersey, it isn't too far from the bridge, and it's near a pretty lake. The caterers who own the place have plates per head as low as $19, so check them out even if the venue doesn't appeal to you! The caterer may!
