Catholic Priest for Outdoor wedding?

Any ideas of how you can find a Catholic priest to marry us outside?  Thanks!

Re: Catholic Priest for Outdoor wedding?

  • They don't exist, except some "priests" from splinter groups, in which case your marriage wouldn't be recognized by the Catholic church anyway.

I have heard of some Catholic priests that will marry you in the Church and then do a blessing at your outdoor "ceremony" but I haven't heard of any priest in the Philly area that does this.

  • I actually found one.  We aren't worried about it being recongnized as we are having it blessed any way.  There is a guy that was fired from Chestnut Hill College who does them.  Father Jim something.  If you search the college and Fr. Jim, you can find him.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Catholic Priest for Outdoor wedding? : Don't assume you can just have it blessed.  If you want the marriage blessed by the Church, get married in the Church.  Otherwise, have anyone besides a Catholic priest officiate your ceremony.  It's offensive to me, as a Catholic, that you want to take shortcuts.

  • Not sure why you would be "offended" by this when you know nothing about the situation or me.  I too am Catholic, however, due to circumstances beyond my control I can't have my wedding in the church, and thought that at the very least it would be nice to have someone affiliated with the Church be present.  You do your wedding your way, I'll do my wedding my way.
  • Glad to find a priest that will do an outdoor wedding... but I don't think the family will be pacified by a gay priest.
