Alterations at Davids Bridal-Westminster

Hi Everyone!

I am new posting to the board.  I am getting married June 12th at Stonebrook Manor.

I purchased my wedding dress and David's Bridal in Westminster.  Definitely did not have the Davids Bridal nightmare experience that many people talk of. Thankfully!   I have scheduled an appointment with them in April for alterations.  I have tried to get a general idea of what they charge but no one will tell me.

Has anyone had Davids do their alterations?  If so, generally what did the pricing run?  Also, did they do a good job? I know the pricing will vary but I am trying to get an idea of the starting point.

Thanks!

I had a bridesmaid dress altered 2 summers ago for a wedding I was in.  I was inbetween sizes so I went with the bigger size thinking alterations would get the dress to fit me better, which it did.  But the price for alterations was $140(more than the dress). Here is what I had done: hemline shortened - only 5"4", halter strap shortened, side seams taken in and light padded cups sewn in to the top.  I know that wedding dress alterations are usually more expensive too.  I bought my wedding dress at David's as well, but am going to price out other shops before committing to David's again.
Hopefully this helps you and Stonebrook Manor is beautiful !

This is not uncommon for David's - to have alterations cost more than the dress.  Honestly, if they are not willing to even give you a ballpark quote for alts cost then I would look elsewhere.  There is a great woman who does alterations in Denver.  I used her years ago for a BM dress and she did a great job and is not overpriced.  She is independent.  I just can't remember her name.  I am sure someone else on this board will remember her name.  Best of luck.

They gave me a quote.  I don't have it in front of me, but I know hemming was $100 and they broke down the charges for the other (possible) alterations as well.  My dress will most likely be about $200 to alter.

I'm having my alterations done in Golden at Carleen's. Jinae does a great job and has been in business for many years. She has done other alterations for me as well. Last time I was there she had several other wedding dresses there she was working on. It's a small shop and she doesn't take credit cards. Her work is excellent.
