need suggestions!!

My fiance and I want a close friend to marry us. Does anyone know of a resource to get a friend "ordained"?? I'm scared that the random ads I've found through Google are BS.

In the state of Colorado, for legal purposes, the person officiating your ceremony does not need to be ordained.  Basically you are married when you sign the marriage certificate.  Definitely read more about it online, but anyone can officiate- no need to be ordained unless you want to for religious reasons.  Anyone can marry you technically.  GL!

If you're getting married in Colorado they do not need to be ordained.  My brother married us...actually, we technically married ourselves he just signed as a witness (which you don't even need to have) and officiated the wedding.  In Colorado, it's supre easy!

Thanks for the information! This is good to know. We are getting married on a shoestring budget in Basalt. I'm not sure where either of you are located, but if you also have DJ and photographer suggestions, I'm all ears!

We are actually using a friend from Iowa for a photographer, but I do know that there are some girls on this board who can recommend some affordable photographers and Dj's. I wold just make anothr, separate post.  You can also search Craig's List and try to find someone reliable that is just starting in the business and looking for experience, etc.  We are using an ipod for our music to save some money.  Good luck!

Colorado is one of the few states in which the bride and groom 'self solomnize'.  Meaning you just sign the marriage license, and an officiant is not necessary.
