Familiar with DIA???

This sounds strange, but I am in need of a good spot in DIA for a proposal.  My sister from Pittsburgh is coming to live with us for seven weeks while she does her clinical.  Her BF of 7 years is surprising her with a visit for her birthday in September.  He recently told me that he plans to propose when we pick him at the airport.  I need to somehow convince her to get to the airport with me in the first place.  He basically wants to walk p behind her, tap her on the shoulder, and then propose in the airport!  Very sweet, but I need a good "spot" if on even exists in the airport.  Obviously it needs to be in the main terminal somehwere since we are not flying.  Any creative ideas???  TIA!

Somewhere cute would be right by the fountains as you walk up to go to baggage claim, right as you come up the escalators and look around to see if anyone is coming to greet you. Or, I would also suggest at baggage claim, right when you're so ready to go home collapse into the arms of those you love, and plus everyone around would love a little pick me up after having to endure the 5 roasted peanuts provided as a snack.

It depends if they want to some super public or not - the most corwded area is the center of the terminal with the fountain. If there is a day that is special to them (anniversary, lucky number, birthday) he could do it at that baggage claim carousel, but they only have 1-16. On the upper level there are some large windows and it isn't usually as crowded as other spots in the airport. HTH!

The fountains are a good idea but you need to be careful about being run over by all the passengers coming off the escalators. Nothing kills romance like getting nailed in the head with a rolling suitcase! If you go on the opposite side of the fountains (by the escalators rarely used), that may be a better spot. As for an idea of how to get her there, tell her you want to have a girls night with her and to go do dinner but you have to pick up a coworker/boss at the airport first and just drop them off at one of the hotels near the airport. You're the cabbie for them because a rental car isn't in their budget. ;)

I agree with the pp's. But, its really too bad that it can't happen under the blue horse that guards DIA. (I heart that creepy horse) Snark aside, good luck!!!

I hate that posessed horse too!  Oh- forgot to mention that my FI wants to attend as well.  IS there a good story for the three of us to go the airport??? Thanks for all the ideas so far!

I got married at DIA.. hahaha. But true. I would go with the fountain, but hopefully he already gets into the terminal and hides, so she doesn't see him. Maybe you can get a cousin or parent to pretend they are coming in so she is completely fooled. You don't have to tell them the whole story.. just see if they can do it without being suspicious.

When I got home from tech school for the AF, he waited for me when I got my bags, went up to the Chapel, and got married there. Pics in my planning bio.

I LOVE the evil stallion! Nothing makes me feel more at home that a giant fiberglass horse with hellfire in his eyes! Did you guys hear that the artist was killed while making it? The horse crushed him!GL with the proposal, there's a bunch of cool murals on the way from the main atrium to the baggage claim, they would make for a good background.

I meant it when I said that I heart that horse. I want to pet it. I am glad that I am not the only one. Its the ONLY good thing about driving out to Kansas to drop someone off at the airport.

Ever since we saw that thing my sister and I have been obsessed with it. It's just too weird to be true, I don't know how on earth it ended up where it is, how could it be possible that all the tourism PR people see that thing and think "oh yeah THIS is Denver!" I love it :)

I love telling the sculptor story to everyone I pick up at the airport. People flip about it!

Hmmm. Note to self.  Find way for FBIL to propose under crazy Denver death-inducing horse.  :)
