Dumb Question

Okay so we got married almost 3 weeks ago and I am getting ready to do everything in order to change my last name.  First off where do I need to take my marriage license to?  The same place where we got it?  Am I missing in steps:1.  Take marriage license to....2.  Go to social security3.  Go to the dmv4.  Starting changing things such as bank, work stuff, bills, etc?I just want to make sure that I am not missing something and see what all I need to do.As always thanks for all your help!  Everyone has been such a great help during this whole process!

That's the order I did it in, although I've heard you can go to the DMV first also (they don't need your new SS card). Some of the banks and other things will require to see your new ID, however.

license goes back to county clerk. Then they'll give a raised seal one to take to all the other places you need to go. Just make sure to check with your banks, etc. to see if you need an official copy of the license to change your name. Wells Fargo is a pain in the @$$ about this.

I went to DMV first, because it's downstairs from the county clerk where I got several certified copies of the marriage license.  Then to SS office with old and new driver's license - they will give you a letter on the spot, then you'll get the new SS card in the mail in about a week.  I'm in the process of sending a form letter with a copy of the marriage license to credit cards, utilities, other accounts, etc. asking them to update their records to new name.  Took SS letter and copy of new and old driver's license to HR dept at work, and they ran the name change through the entire system, including 401K and set up new email address (dual - old one still works too).  It's going pretty smooth so far . . .
