Cake Recommendations?

Does anyone have recommendations for cake bakeries in the Denver area? Our wedding is in May 2010 and we are starting our search for our cake maker. We're envisioning a simple buttercream 3-tier cake decorated with flowers and the most important quality to us is taste. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

We are using Mulberries Cake Shop and they have THE BEST tasting cakes and are very reasonably priced and will work with any budget.  Highly recommended!  http://www.mulberriescakeshop.com/

I second Jennifer Rice with By Request.  We loved our cake - looked perfect and tasted wonderful.  Got lots of compliments on it from guests and it was very affordable.  Good luck and happy cake tasting:)

I second the recommendation for Mulberries, that is who we are going with. It is in Wash Park in Denver. The cake is so good and the prices are reasonable. Try the butter pecan cake, it is to die for ;) We're cutting costs a bit by having a smaller "brides" cake and the rest is being made as sheet cakes.

Cakes by Karen is the BEST! We used them and were so happy with the price, the taste, and how it looked--they made it look better than the picture I gave them to go off of!

I work at a cupcakery in Parker. It's Nomelie Cupcakes, cupcakes are becoming very popular. We have done 2 weddings and at the end of August we have 2 more. We are also doing 2 on labor day weekend. You should think about that, the cupcakesare so good I am having them at my wedding next year.

We're leaning towards Das Meyer in Arvada, thanks to multiple recommendations.  They have free, drop-in tastings every Saturday starting at 10:30 am and I think going until 2 pm.  We're major foodies (I did a year in pastry school as one of my many detours during college) and their cakes were everything we were hoping for- moist, flaverful, perfect crumb/ texture, right amount of filling to cake, and amazing buttercream!  We're going for Orange Blossom, Chocolate Raspberry, and Berries in a Cloud.  Also, they're the most affordable we've seen- starting at less than $4/ person for simple buttercream tiers, even cheaper for sheet cakes!

I have a friend who is making our cake. She is doing it on the side, but is super talented. I mean they are awesome so far. Let me know if you decide you want more info!
