where did you get/ are you getting married???

I'm looking for ideas about venues to visit, so... Where did get/ are you getting married?  Places you visited/ have been to/ drove by once that looked cool?  I'm looking mostly in the Denver area but I'm open to surrounding areas.  Thanks!

I got married in Woodland Park, but I went to a wedding at Mile High Station, it was a lovely venue (the staff were a bit odd, but nothing terrible). I also was looking at Hudson Gardens, if it wasn't so far north of me I would've book there.

Evergreen Lake House... Mount Vernon Country Club was our 2nd choice, but we liked having the lake in the background.

We are having our reception at Four Mile Historic Park, it's right around Colorado Blvd. and Alameda Ave. I's a cool park with a cute room with a fire place in the main building that people can use for weddings. Aimee, the events coordinator has been great so far, she's reliable and replies to phone calls and emails asap.www.fourmilehistoricpark.org

I am getting married at Boettcher Mansion on Lookout Mountain. I seriously contemplated Lower Lake Ranch in Pine and Meadows @ Marshdale in Evergreen before making my final selection.

We are getting married at the Rockland Community Church in Golden, and the reception will be help at the Red Rocks Visitor Center. I absolutely love the visitor center; however, we looked at a TON of places downtown. We were almost going to book the Westin Tabor Center, but it just turned out to be too expensive for us. But the room is pretty awesome with cool views of the city. Also, the Pinnacle Club at the Hyatt has awesome views as well. But again, that is a little expensive too. :)

We are doing Hudson Gardens, they let you bring in your own alcohol and have about 30 caterers to choose from.  I looked at 17 places before I fell in love with this venue.  What type of look are you going for? How many guests?

I got married at The Lodge at Cathedral Pines in Colorado Springs. Very affordable, you can use any caterer and bring in your own alcohol (which saves a TON of money). Pics in bio if you are interested.

Ceremony at Chautauqua park in Boulder, reception at a family friend's home. The cost is only a $100 permit and they are pretty flexible. We also looked at a number of places listed above that looked great. Our short list included: BMOCA (Boulder art gallery), Space Gallery, Rembrandt yard, Denver Botanic gardens at Chatfield, and Koenig House at CU.

We are still looking too.  I got the "Wedding Sites and Services" magazine from the grocery store.  It is AMAZING!!!  It has 200 pages of venues and service providers and planning tools.  It gives you one place to compare venues all over the front range and in the mountains.  You can also google that, and there is a website.

I too am having a Denver area wedding -here are some places I looked:The Pinnacle Club @ The Grand Hyatt downtown: GORGEOUS views, but still a hotel ballroom, along with the hotel pricing. The Denver Athletic Club: They have multiple rooms and even a awesome rooftop patio. Pretty cool place, but I didn't like the "athletic club" part of it.The University Club: Both of the mothers loved this place. It was nice, but ultimately too small.Kevin Taylor's at the Opera House: Lovely, loved the space. Food is great, just a neat location. The Seawell Ballroom @ the DPAC: Always wanted to get married here, ultimately came down to the fact that they didn't communicate well and were expensive (I think 12K to rent the space?).Grant Humphries Mansion: Cool historic mansion near Gov's Park. Great outdoor space and everything. Thing I like most about this place is you can bring in your own alcohol and choose your own cater (you will save tons of $$) It isn't huge, so I think to keep it comfortable, we are going to try and keep our guest list around 150ppl so dinner isn't crammed. Dancing won't be a problem because there is a ballroom in the basement!Good luck!

We are getting married at Evans Chapel. It's the oldest chapel in Denver and used to be downtown until they moved it to the DU campus. I was a little nervous at the thought of having it on campus and in Sept, right when everyone is coming back to school, but the coordinator of the reception venue (see below) said it's never been an issue. The surrounding landscaping is amazing (there's a little creek/stream/waterfall/pond complete with lillypads, fish, turtles, and baby ducks) that runs along the sidewalk and ends right at the chapel wall. Our reception will be at the HRTM building, which they call the Tuscan Ballroom and it is indeed very Tuscan. It's a pretty new building and was designed after some famous winery in Tuscany... I should know which one, but I don't. Not only is the space perfect for us (ballroom, connecting wine room and outdoor patio), but the event coordinator there (Patty Farmer) is AMAZING. We met with her just to get an estimate for what we wanted and she ended up not only whipping something up that fit w/in our tiny budget, but we left with several tips/vendor recommendations from someone with 30+ years of event planning experience. Plus she's a hoot. I actually can't wait until the day comes closer so I can call her more often for advice and whatnot... she'll probably hate me by the end of it all. :) Any way, the venues are relatively small. The chapel only holds 85, but the ballroom can hold at least 120, maybe into 200's. I can't remember for sure. There are also several other "event" spaces on campus that are great for weddings (and private) and I've heard lots of rave reviews of them here.

I should also mention I looked at the Oxford hotel, which really was incredible.  They require a 10k minimum, but ultimately that would still fit for a mid-line budget (includes a lot).  The thing that turned me away from it was that I'd have to find another hotel for guests to stay at since the guests rooms per night were very expensive!

We are getting married at Parkside Mansion is small max 100-120 people but it overlooks city park in Denver, has a roof top balcony for the ceremony really nice in side.  And it as dirt cheap- the whole day on sunday morning and evening is cheaper than Sat morning only at Hudson Gardens.  (We are on a budget.)  And you can BYOB.

Although my MOH is getting married at the Boulder Theatre, nice!!

Also if you live in Denver and BYOB use Argonauts b/c they will buy back your unopened beer, wine and liquor so you can get some $$$ back.
