FI's Groomsmen/Parents Gifts

So, FI has yet to decide what he's getting his groomsmen and his parents as wedding gifts.  We've discussed a lot of ideas and I've given him boatloads of other ideas.  He's "still deciding".I'm getting annoyed that we're getting close and none of the ideas have materialized.  Do I just drop the subject?  (It's not like I nag him every day about it).  What happens when we find ourselves a few days out with no gifts?  What's my level of "responsibility" to get them gifts?  Anyone else faced with this?

DH was the same way. A week before, he decided that a white water rafting trip would be a good gift, and the guys LOVED it. I'm really glad I didn't pressure him into buying some engraved flask or whatever. Just remember that men often work on a different timescale than women...

Yes!! I pushed and prodded him to decide on something after numerous suggestions. He finally relented to one idea (probably just to get me off his back! :o) and none of the guys ended up taking them home (they are still sitting on my fridge). If he doesn't pick something and doesn't feel strongly about getting something, I'd say let this one go. The last thing you need to be doing the week before the wedding is picking out gifts that may or may not be used. In hindsight I would've gotten a gift card to a restaurant or sporting good place for the GM.

I'm in the same boat as you. We have three weeks to go and still no GM gifts. He even has them picked out, just not ordered (remember the bacon chapstick?). I am going to remind him one more time then just let it go. You shouldn't take responsibility at all, you've done all you can :) I also agree with pp's to let him work within his own time frame and choose the gifts he thinks are best. GL we're almost there!

Thanks for posting Fran. I came up with suggestions for FI since he had no clue and didn't want to go the flask route, but we are getting dangerously close and still no gifts! I'm glad there are others who are having the same issue. What's with these FI's?

My FI most definitely had a different timetable than I do :)  I'm just going to let it go for now and see what happens.  If we find ourselves one week out with no gifts, I'll reassess and maybe go the gift card route.Katie - hope your FI gets around to it soon.  Hope your meeting with the priest went well last night.
