Are Chair Covers & Sashes really needed????

Ok, so after all the great advise from my knottie brides I have decided to just rent my table linens, not worth all that stinking stress to buy...

But of course as I call to confirm my decore, the lady asks will you be needing chair covers or sashes???

I mean do I need them, the venue has pretty ok looking chairs. They are not flattering to my colors, but do I want to spend the additional $4.00 a chair??

I mean I was lucky to book with my vendor because most places dont set up the covers & they do, also most places charge $3.75-$4.50 per chair without the shash my $4.00 price includes the sash???

It adds another $500.00 bucks to my decor budget. Is it too much?

It just depends how you feel.......honestly that is what it comes down to.

I felt like it was just waaaay too expensive too!  I honestly didn't think I was going to do them.  Then a couple of months before my wedding they had different chairs which were a HIDEOUS olive green color, in short very ugly.  I still didn't think I was going to do it...

Then instead of the 175 we budgeted for, we ended up at 130....so I used the extra money that we "saved" and put it toward the chair covers.  In the end I'm SO incredibly glad I did.  It really transformed the room into something so much more formal and pleasing to the eye.  But remember.....that was my experience.....someone else could have had chairs that were just fine, and it still looked beautiful and formal.  For me, I just had really ugly chairs and ended up "under" budget so I could splurge.

Another idea is to just put chair covers on the "VIP" tables such as the head table and the parents tables.  I was just at a wedding where they did that since the head table was comprised of the parents of the wedding couple along with bride and groom (6) and then 2 wedding party tables.  It was a neat way to throw in a little something special to those tables.  Their chairs weren't too bad though, and it was a noontime reception.

So that is my experience :-)  Hope it offers some little things to think about at least!

P.S.  FWIW I ended up paying a whopping $7 or something like that per chair.....so yeah it is expensive!!!!  I didn't want to give myself more work since no one in my family would have helped me, but I could have tried to research another company outside my vender.....or ordered online.  I've seen it as cheap as 2-3 per chair without the sash.....but afraid I don't remember the company.  BUT it would mean that they are mailed to you (might be wrinkled....which means ironing or making do) and you'd have to set it up.  Then you *might* also have to clean them.  MIght be too much of a headache for the $$$ savings!

I think if the chairs are okay looking, and you are on a budget, it's something to skip. I think they are kind of silly unless they are extremely cheap.

My vendor seems to be pretty resonable than?

They were willing to even give me a pretty good discount because I am booking my DJ, Cake and Floral with them. Saved me close to $200.00 bucks so thats half the cost of my cake.
