The Perfect Wedding

I've been searching for the perfect location for our Wedding and hadn't found the place until this past week. It's called, "Dunafon Castle" it’s in Idledale, CO. My fiancé and I don't want the typical wedding and well I found non-typical! This place is everything I had imaged for our wedding! It even has a freaking moat! Haha.. The main problem, its pretty expensive for us. I’m not sure what to do. I’m torn between having the wedding I’ve always dreamed of and the wallet. I’ve asked my parents for some help and they said they would be able to help pitch in a little but not a lot. I do have my brother and my fiancé’s parents that (I would hope) would be willing to help out.  I’m going to tour it next Thursday to talk with the lady and see if there’s any way I could make a deal with her, but I can’t get hopes up on that. Anyone have some advise? Should I go for the perfect wedding or settle with something more basic? Thanks!

Go for the perfect wedding! With any luck at all you'll only ever do it once, right? Do it huge!

But, sometimes, remember, it's okay to scale back the dream. the reality is, you have to decide what your priorities are; is it inviting everyone you want to, and being able to properly host them? Or having the "perfect" venue, and having to slash that list way down? Is it the cake, or the time of year?

Sit down with your df (dear fiance) and figure out what YOUR (you and him) priorities together are, and go from there.

In the end, all you REALLY need is you, the groom, two witnesses, and someone to marry you. The rest is all icing :)

Oh, and don't mention asking for monetary help on the ettiquette board, you'll get torn to pieces!

I also looked at this place and it's gorgeous, and they know it too. For us the price of it just wasn't worth, one what they included and two having to give up on other things. They also don't really budge on the price. You are completely right though it's gorgeous. Good luck on whatever you pick though. Remember this though any place can look gorgeous, but it's you and him that make it perfect for your wedding.

Wow, I just checked their website.  It's gorgeous.  And a portion of th event fee goes to Step 13, which is really cool.

Hope you find a way to go for it!

Thanks for the input! I toured it on Thursday. Wow.. Just wow. It's like a fairtale place, so me anyway. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for it. I've talked with my parents and his about pitching in a little to help out and they are for it. I honestly don't need that much help now that I've calcualted my budget over and over again. I just need to cut back on a few things and I think it will work out great! The other nice thing about being friends with the arts crowd, I don't need to find or pay for a cake, flowers, band and photographer. So that cuts down my price A LOT. Thanks again for all of your suggestions! :)
