Clueless – Need advice on DIY Wedding Cake Table Decorations.

OK, so I have the decoration ideas for the guest tables, head table, etc., but I totally spaced the cake table!  Does anyone have any cute DIY ideas?  My FH and I are both HUGE camping and fishing enthusiasts.  Our cake is going to look like a mountain – including pine trees, wild flowers, wildlife, a river (with a kayak/canoe), and will be complete with a custom made cake topper showing my FH and I fishing with a tent behind us w/ a “Just Married” sign (our cake person is going to also incorporate our dogs into the topper since our lives are not complete without them).  I have no idea hwo to decorate our cake table.  I’ve thought about fresh flowers, pine cones, votive candles (the electronic kind so the icing doesn’t melt), etc….but I guess I just don’t have the “eye” for decorating.  I have the ideas, but no clue how to implement them.  Anyone have fun suggestions?  Thank you, as always, for the help!

I'd say keep it simple. Your cake sounds really awesome, no one will notice whats around it. I have never noticed the decorations on a cake table, I am always eyeing the cake! Based on your cake, it might be cool to sprinkle some pine needles on the table the same way that you would rose petals. If you use pine cones, use small ones so it does not look awkward.

I agree to keep the table simple.  The cake has a lot going on and you don't want to detract from it. It sounds awesome--do you mind sharing who is making it?
