Hotel Blocks

I'm getting ready to start calling around for hotel blocks for my January wedding.  Any recommendations on what to ask for (other than rates)?  I had a friend who recently got married that got stuck in a bad hotel contract.....

I'm getting married at The University Club, so I'm thinking The Warwick?  Any other downtown recommendations?

Thanks!

We are having our reception at a hotel and  that hotel is offering speical rates for our wedding guest.. so i didn't have to worry about that.

also ask your venue sometimes they can get you a good price on hotel rooms! best of luck

When I was looking at blocks, I made sure to go with a hotel that didn't require a contract.  My month-board knotties recommended it for the exact reason of getting "stuck".  Just shop prices.  They will also want to know how many rooms you're expecting.  Make sure to ask if the block "expires" and if/when it does, can guests still book w/ a discounted rate.  Include that info in your invites or wedding website so guests know they need to hurry and book.

Also ask about complimentary transportation for your guests.  Some hotels will offer free shuttles w/ room blocks.  GL!

Hampton Inn was nice to work with. With 10 rooms, provided a discounted rate as well as a shuttle between the hotel and venue.
