You can do weddings at the Denver Urban Gardens locations! They don't charge either, but it would be good to make a donation to the organization. Here's the answer I got.
Hi Jessica,
Community Gardens are definitely community spaces, so you are free to have a wedding in one. There wouldn't be a charge as it is a public space, although you could also make a donation to DUG. You would need to think about space limitations, be respectful of the garden plots and food growing in them, and also understand you can't "reserve" it for a private event, so there would gardeners there, kids running around, etc. I can give you the names garden leaders to contact for any of our gardens. If you want to check out our list and map of gardens on our website and let me know some that might work (maybe drive by and check some out) I would be happy to. Off the top of my head, Rosedale Community Garden might be one for you to drive by, as it is located on a bigger plot of land.
You might also consider DUG's DeLaney Community Farm in Aurora. You would need to contact Heather DeLong (
heather@dug.org) from our office to see if they would be open to hosting a wedding out there.
At any of these sights (gardens/farm), we would have to check the lease agreements for whether alcohol is permitted, if that is a concern.
Let me know if you come up with any other questions or specific gardens you would want garden leader information for.
Thanks,
Jen
