What does everyone do on Christmas day?
My family wakes up in the morning and drink tea or coffee while we open presents. We start with our stockings and all the kids (meaning my siblings and I) open them at the same time. After that we do gifts one at a time, with whoever opened a gift last, picking and giving a gift to someone else (not necessarily from the giver). Then we have a big breakfast, it's usually around 10:30 or 11:00 by the time we start cooking.
After breakfast we all play with our gifts, sit around and visit, etc., and then relax for the afternoon. Then we go to our family friend's house for dinner, lots of wine, and playing games. It used to always be Cranium but we're playing Apples to Apples this year.
The friends we go to are from England, and we are from South Africa, so neither of us have extended family here. We've become each other's family and spend most of our holidays together
The husband in this couple is actually "officiating" my wedding (we'll have an actual officiant do the legal portions, but he is doing most of the ceremony), so we might also do some wedding talk while we're there. My mom and I went out the other day and brought him a copy of the ceremony so he could read through it and see what he thought.
