I need HELP!!!!  My fiancee and I found a photographer that we love but some people don't agree with us choosing them for our wedding.  The photographer was referred to us from our jeweler.  The jeweler just was married and used this photographer for her wedding.  The problem is that the photographer doesn't have a studio and is somewhat new to the buisness, but her work is awsome.  She is giving us a great price which is in our buget, but is it worth the risk.

I would ask to see a few full weddings (Rather than just favorites from each wedding) and album design layouts and use your best judgement.  MANY MANY photographers work from home and don't have a studio, so I wouldnt worry about that.

I agree with Ashley.  Being studio-less is not a measure of quality - I can think of a few photographers who are some of the best in this area whose studios are in their homes or who just don't have studios, period.  As a matter of fact, you'll likely be getting a better deal from a studio-less photographer because they don't have rent to pay for on top of their time, equipment, technology, supplies, products, etc. I would, however, make sure that you see a whole wedding start-to-finish like Ashley said - this will give you a sense of what you'll get, rather than just the best few photos that might come out of your wedding (which are the kind of thing that will wind up in someone's portfolio).  

Out of curiosity, who's the photographer and what's your budget?  If you want to make some comparisons we can make some similar recommendations.

Thank you so much for the help.  This is the photographer's website:http://www.eileenjantzphoto.com/Eileen_Jantz_Photo/Welcome.html.   Let me know what you think of her work .  She has different packages the one that we decided on was a $800.00 package.  I just don't want to make the wrong decision in picking a photographer.  Thanks again guys.

If I may be brutally honest, you are getting what you paid for here.  Without knowing anything whatsoever about this woman, her website and photos give me the vibe of an ameteur rather than a pro.  However, if $800 is your photography budget (which is pretty low for the Philly area), I would say that if you like what you see when you meet with her to go for it.  I unfortunately can't recommend anyone else in that price range...and as long as you stay away from wedding factories like the pros (see above!) you'll be OK

Heather thanks for helping me ..  I soooo need it lol .. Our budget is no more than 1500.00, she just quoted that price to us.  And we are both rather new to this photography world, and is not sure what is good and bad work ..

I would see if some of the other gals can help, as my budget back in the day was more than $1500 and most of the photographers I researched would be out of even my price range now.  To give you and idea, many of the photographers in this area that get recommended here seem to range somewhere in the vicinity of $2500-5000 depending on the package, style, level of experience, etc.  However, I'm sure we'll be able to figure something out.  If you want a good starting point, the link to the "blog" in our moderator's signature has an extensive list of vendors that have been used by Knotties in the past.
