Early Wedding Gift Q...

Hi ladies! So my question is ...and I know I read this somewhere before but i cant remember, when you receive an early wedding gift are you supposed to open it, send a prompt thank you and then not use it till after the wedding OR because it is quite early should we wait till closer to the wedding to open it and then send the prompt thank you? TYIA :)

    This happened to me last month, and everyone on here advised me to send the thank you right away so the sender won't be wondering if it arrived. 

    It will also help you keep up with your thank you's if you just write/send them as you receive gifts, so that's what I'm doing.

    Is it a wedding gift or a shower gift? Whichever it is I would wait until the corresponding event, open it then and then send a TY card.

    Open it right away and send a thank you.  Don't use it until after the wedding.
