NWR: Seasonal Job

I'm beginning a search for a part time seasonal job in retail for over the holidays. Anyone have any good experiences? I'd like to go some where I can get a nice employee discount for things I'd buy anyway or buy as Christmas gifts. Thanks!

    Best Buy?

Check out Pottery Barn or Williams Sonoma.  You get 50% off anything in the store with employee discount at the store you work at plus you get a discount at the other stores in that chain (Williams Sonoma Home, Pottery Barn, PBK, PB Teen, and Williams Sonoma are all owned by the same people).

Also, a tip we found out:  If you work for them over the holiday, and you have gotten married in the 6 months prior, you can combine the 50% employee discount with the 10% registry discount you get from having a registry there.

I know they are always hiring during the holiday, and the stuff from both stores makes great gifts (and the prices can't be beat with the discount!).

Noooo MBR are you kidding?  Have you ever worked for one of those stores?  I worked at Pottery Barn nights/weekends after college and it was like a regime, I hated it.  The discounts are fantastic but it isn't worth the crappy pay and crazy policies.  Also, seasonal workers aren't given the full discounts.  When I worked there we all got 40% (no idea if they're up to 50% now like you mention) and the seasonal people got 20%.

My stepsister worked at PB in DE for years, and just quit a few months ago- that's how I found out about the discounts.

The ones in DE have a pretty decent reputation- I have several friends who work the WS store over holiday, and they got back every year because they love it and the discounts were decent.

Don't know about the ones in PA, though- they might not have as good of a rep as the ones down here in DE.

I think something for the wedding?

Yes, I was thinking of applying to Pottery Barn over the weekend. We are constantly needing things for the house. I read some where (not from an official source) that the discount was 40% for every one, regardless if they are seasonal. If it's just 20%, I think it would have to depend on how much the hourly rate is to me. I also have an interview at Banana Republic. Anyone work there or any of the sister stores?
