Over $200 for carnation cp's!?!?!?!?!?!?

My fiance and I went to see a florist last week and LOVED HER ! We waited all week for her to email the estimate of everything. I picked carnation centerpieces , which is a pretty cheap flower, and she wants $215-$250 for each centerpiece ! Is she serious ? This "quote" was more then roses , how is this possible. I am so heart broken because I thought this was "the one" . : (  Does this seem a bit ridiculous to anyone else?

Yes, it seems rediculous to me.... unless you want huuuuuuge and full CPs.  My CPs had hydrangea, feathers and led lights, and were still only $140/ea.

Are you sure the $215-250 was for EACH centerpiece?

yup, for each CP ! I think Carnations are like a dollar something... pretty cheap. So I dont see how the CP can be over 200 bucks ! Plus she wanted over $500 for setup/cleanup/delievery.

holy moly!  do flower centerpieces really cost that much for EACH one?!!!  i haven't started pricing CPs and flowers yet, but i had no idea that's what they could cost.  i was thinking carnations especially would be pretty cheap!

Peanutty- I thought for sure carnations would be cheaper then roses or tulips (which i've been quoted for as well). Im in shock over here

That's insane.  I'm paying $100 per centerpiece, and I am getting orchids, lilies, roses, hydrangea, and a host of other expensive flowers.  Definitely look elsewhere.

I got a quote for cp's similar to this price range and I thought it was outrageous.  I wonder if it's the same place??

Vllygrn- it's possible . I just got another quote and they said $165 per CP.

Wow - that seems pretty unbelievable. My CPs are just under $100/piece and the delivery/setup fee totals out to $125.

Are carnations not "in season" during the time you're getting married? It may be helpful to ask what are the most reasonably priced flowers during that time of year.

I have found most florists are willing to work with you on size of CP and bouquets. Did you get an idea of how big these CPs would be? Maybe you could downsize?

Wow that's high. Were they huge balls of carnations that have to use hundreds of carnations?  My tall CPs, using roses, hydrangeas, and more - were almost half of that.  My very full low ones were all all a little different and ranged from $60 - $90 each.  .  My fliorist mixed up all kinds of flowers for me and did some fun things with the containers. If you're in the suburbs, you should check out Whimsical Welcomes.  Her prices are really fair and my flowers were very unique and beautiful

The CP'S were big... 32'' inch ball. But no it didnt not need hundreds of carnations to make....
