Flowers

What is everyone's avg that they spent/spending on their flowers? This is one area where I am lost at. I am thinking of taking a local floral design class and then doing them myself. Also has anyone tried to do them themselves?
TIA

Re: Flowers

  • We are spending around $2,800.

My friend did her own flowers. She did not take a class however. It was a nightmare because I basically had to do it the day before the wedding and it was really stressful. And to me it looked terrible. She ordered the flowers from Walmart and the only good thing was they made the bouquets and boutiners for free. Meaning they assembled them for free. She paid for the flowers. Well except that they did not de-thorn the roses from our bouquets. Ouch!

Paprika just recently did her own and had much more success. She could probably speak to level of stress involved in putting together flowers the day before your wedding.

Also, make sure that is ok with your venue. I could not do my own if I wanted to at my venue. They insist on a professional coming in and setting them up.

  • Paprika did a fabulous job on her flowers.  I'll send her a text to come on here and tell you what she did, etc.

I spent about $1000 on flowers.  That's as much as I wanted to spend.  However, my centerpieces came with my venue, so I didn't have to spend any money on those flowers.  The $1000 was strictly ceremony, bouquets, and bouts.  The place I used was Celebrations Design Group, and they were fabulous.  Because they aren't a flower shop, they don't have a large overhead, so they don't mark up flowers too much.

My only wish with CDG was that I wish I had been able to see a mock up, because my bouquet in my head looked very different then it did the day of my wedding.  Don't get me wrong, it was beautiful, but we had a misunderstanding.  I thought my bouquet was going to incorporate sterling roses and it didn't.
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.
