Make-up lesson?

Hi ladies,
I am thinking about doing my own make-up for the big day and was wondering if anyone else has gone this route. Has anyone found a make-up artist that will give you a lesson and tips? I am pretty confident in my ability I just would like help coming up with my make-up look. Any brands that you really love as well?

My friend did her own. She went to a makeup counter in the mall in advance and they showed her what to do and she bought all the supplies. To be honest though it looked like crap in the photos.

You spend good money on photography and you don't want to look back at your photos and wish you had spend a couple bucks and had your makeup professionally done. Especially since wedding / photo ready makeup application is very different from everyday application.

Just my $0.02.

thanks for the tips - I knew that there would be some of those things that MUA would know so that was what I was hoping to find out. I just generally enjoy putting my make-up on and sometimes I have a big problem when someone else come near my eyes... (I have passed out on my eye doctor multiple times)

I was thinking about doing the same thing!  I have a TON of makeup form MAC and a lot of their brushes (I totally recommend them both) and am pretty good at applying in on my own.  Even though I have a lot of makeup, I don't like wearing a lot of it so I'm nervous that I won't put enough on for photography so I've decided to hire an artist.  Some of the budget saving tips I've been reading online recommend making an appointment at a makeup counter day of.  Most of them only require that you purchase $40-$50 worth of makeup.  Most of them will teach you how to put it on as they do your makeup so If you do this before you'll have time to practice.
