How long before??

Now that I'm offically less than a year from saying I DO, I'm been trying to plot out a schedule of sorts of when I should be tackling certain tasks.  So while I know there's no absolute right answer, I was wondering how much before your wedding you booked or purchased certain things.

1. When did you first start looking at wedding dresses? Bridesmaid dresses? How about actually ordering them?
2. When did you book your florist?
3. When did you register for gifts (if you're not having an engagement party that is)?

    1. I started looking about 11 months out. Dresses can take a really long time to be made, so the sooner, the better - especially if you want to take your time and try lots on.
    2. At about the 9 month mark. I think I was a little ahead of the game on this one, but it felt good to have it decided early.
    3. I would wait and register a month or so before your bridal shower or, if no shower, then before wedding invites go out. It is really annoying to have things you spent time picking out get discontinued. That will definitely happen if you register early.

I started looking at wedding dresses at about 1 year out. I bought at 10 months. We found a bridesmaid's dress at one of the places we looked for my bridal gown. We plan on ordering in September.

I am going to start working on florists in August.

We registered shortly after getting engaged because people kept asking our parents what we wanted for engagement presents. It will work out because my sister wants to have my shower before the holidays so they don't have to worry about it getting snowed out in the months before the wedding. I realize we may have to clean it up but I am glad for the most part it is finished because we had time at the point when we registered and we won't have that time right before the shower.

    1. When did you first start looking at wedding dresses? Bridesmaid dresses? How about actually ordering them? Wellll.... I bought my dress 16 months before the wedding. Granted, it was off the rack, clearance, last one, and I had the cash. But... I'm paying for it now. I gained some weight over the winter, and when I tried the dress on in March, it was 3-4 inches too small. Now, I'm down to an inch. I've been browsing bridesmaid dresses, my MOH picked hers out in February, and I'm going mid next month to find dresses for my sister and the BM that just had her baby. The last BM is preggo, so she'll get something off the rack at David's Bridal in October or November. I have no experience with ordering them though.
    2. When did you book your florist? Not doing it...
    3. When did you register for gifts (if you're not having an engagement party that is)? I registered in January at Kohls and last month at BB&B.

I started looking for dresses right after we got engaged which was about a year and 5 months out. I ordered my dress a year out, it took 8 months to come in. Started looking for bridesmaid dresses right away as well, but they were ordered much later. My last bm to order lives in fl and she just ordered hers last week ( 3 months out). Florist we booked 5-6 months out, and we registered for a few things shortly after getting engaged, and I just finished the registry probably a month or 2 ago. Good luck!
