Photographers under $1500

Anyone have any photographers under $1500? I like the photojournalism style. I want some posed photos but mostly candid type that really reflect the nature of the wedding/reception. I don't care if I get an album. I really just want a CD with good quality photos that I can reproduce on my own. Any suggestions would be great.

I have been in contact with a couple so far that fit the bill, and some I am unsure of. I think I would like some other to choose from as well.
So far on my list are the following:
Spencer Studios
Amy Tucker
Paul Lutes (not sure if I like his style -- seem to be a lot of posed photos)
Liz Warnek (still waiting to hear back from her regarding availability)
Ultimate Images Photography (haven't had the chance to really look at their photos yet, but are in the price range)
Black Silver Imaging (again, haven't checked out their photos yet)
Chris Hayes - great photos but not so sure of his style

You can go to some of the local schools in the area and ask some photography students. They do great work and are much less expensive. They normally only ask that you allow them to use some of your pics in their portfolio.

We signed with Perfect Photography in NJ. They are only across the bridge. I read nice reviews about them on the wedding wire and met with the owner in person and looked thru albums. They have different packages at different prices. We picked the one with the 9 hours coverage + DVD + photo website (if we or anyone want to order the pics thru them) and it cost us about 1K. I can tell you after the wedding how the pictures turned out. :)

I'm not sure where you are getting married, but Kelly Miller does fantastic work.  She does a lot of children and newborns, but she is getting into weddings as well.

Add Photography by Leah to your list to check out.  She's got a lot of package options and might be able to put something together close to that price.

I used Paul Lutes, and I know his website has a lot of posed photos... but he took a ton of candids that I love, that we're going to be using once we finally make our album.

We did some posed photos, but we wanted more candids than posed as well.  We only did photos with the bridal party in church.  We did posed with just the two of us during the cocktail hour, and then everything else was candids, which is exactly what we wanted.  Paul was really great about doing exactly what he wanted.  As long as you tell him what you want... that's what he'll do.
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

I looked into Kelly Miller already, but she was booked for our date. I will check out Perfect day photography in NJ.
I have heard of Photography by Leah but couldn't find her website, now I will see what she can do for me.
I guess I need to meet Paul Lutes before I make a decision. His prices are phenomenal.

Paul R. Lutes Photography does great work. He is great to work with as far as price and can provide a second shooter as long as you let him know. If you let him know your budget and what you want, he is always willing to work with you. He also has options for albums if you ask for them. his website it

We're using Barnyard Photography and we've been really happy with them!  We're getting a photographer and a photo booth through them for just over $2000, so getting all of your photography for under $1500 is definitely doable.  We chose them because we found a lot of really great reviews online.  They're based out of Wilmington, Delaware, but they're traveling for our wedding in the Philly suburbs for free.
