Biggest Splurge

What has been your biggest "splurge" for your wedding? Why was/is it worth it to you?

Re: Biggest Splurge

  • Probably our photographers. Photography is VERY important to us. They did a great job with our e-pics, so I definitely can't wait to see the wedding pics!

The venue. Our venue (including food, open bar, etc) is about 75% of our total budget. EVERYTHING else, the dress, photog, dj, cake, invitations, hair and makeup, is in the 25%.
  • The band. And it was totally worth it. They rocked and it is the one thing everyone is still talking about!

  • It will probably end up being our venue and our photographer. I had my heart set on a venue and a photographer and I made a bunch of cuts elsewhere in the budget in order to be able to afford them. I think it's totally worth it because the venue/food is probably the most important part of the day and it's what guests will remember. Photography was also really important to me since once the day is over, pictures are really all you have left of it... I wanted to be sure they were good ones!

  • Photography is about half our budget! We are both photographers and having an excellent photographer was at the top of our list of importance.  We are cutting a lot of stuff out that we don't feel neccesary for us and also planning a lot of DIY to try to save money.

Venue will also be a big expense but it is a retreat weekend and we will recover some of our venue expense from those that do stay the weekend (it will be a very minimal lodging fee but we are paying it up front and than anyone who books to stay the weekend gets deducted from our balance).

Venue definitely! Me and fiance really wanted an outside wedding and Appleford was beautiful so I just went for it. They are pretty pricey and you bring in everything from outside so it adds up quickly.
  • Our biggest splurge was probably the honeymoon. Our venue is on the cheaper side but that is always the biggest expense.

  • Everything about this wedding is a splurge, since my mom is paying for like 99% of it and I feel like her spending money on me is unnecessary.

The biggest one - in terms of "totally unnecessary but we're doing it anyway" - probably my dress? It was almost triple our original budget, but it's gorgeous so whatever. Or maybe the morning-after brunch that we're hosting for all OOT guests (which is basically the entire guest list) at a very expensive hotel in the city. It's turning into Reception #2.

  • Definately my dress. I will wear it to bed that night LOL

  • Definitely the florist at 16k. This is more expesive than the venue and catering, but will be soo beautiful.
