Jess - DH is convinced we are only having boys too, so he isn't discussing girl names either ;)

Nicole - My names go to my grave too now. I told a friend the name I've wanted for a boy FOREVER after she decided on her babies name a few months before delivery.. big mistake - the baby is born, and next thing I know, the name is NOT the name they had decided on... it was mine instead. I still may use it one day, since she doesn't live locally, so it's staying under lock and key.

[QUOTE]Gzilla is weird about baby girl names. He has rules. He isn't as protective over boys names. He just doesn't want him to have his name... and he wants his middle name to be Malio. Rule #1 no vowels. Rule #2 no exes names (good rule) Rule #3 no relatives names for first name (he's a Junior... and it's lead to a lifetime of confusion. We get AARP stuff because they think that Gzilla is his father) Rule #4 has to be a saints name (though I've caught him a few times on this one...like this morning when he said he liked the name Harper) The ONLY girls name we agreed on was Isabelle. It breaks Rule #1, but it was the only name we agreed on. And then he taught a little satan named Isabelle who told the principal, the parents at school, and other kids that Gzilla's girlfriend was pregnant and that he takes time out of class to show everyone my ultra sound pictures. Um... I've never been pregnant. And this little brat ruined the name Isabelle for me. The only rule I have is no J or soft G names. We are both soft Gs... his parents are a J and a soft G... and his brother and his wife are both Js. I will not be that family.

MBR - my dad and all of his brothers have dark brown eyes, all of their kids have baby blues! Blue is the dominating color. Two blue eyed people can't make a brown eyed child ;)

We have discussed pet names but not really boy names. Our dog's name is Chase Mutley and FI loves the name Chase for a boy but the dog came first...haha.

B2B- that's the most we've ever mentioned kids names, just not a topic of conversation until one of our friends is having a kid and I share with him the name of the kid then we dicuss it for like 30seconds

We are both teachers so I'm pretty sure this naming a child thing will be difficult. And I've had some big stinkers in my classes...All my friends that are teachers had a bit of trouble naming their kiddos but have come up with some beautiful and fitting names. I do have 2 little girls in my class this year that have cute unique names Ella and Ava and then I was shopping at Home Goods and what do I see those names painted on pink plaques! I thought those names were so original, guess they're becoming popular

Blue is the recession color, meaning if a child gets a blue gene and a brown gene they will have brown eyes (brown is dominate). Actually they found blue eye people have 1 common ancestor...

Yes I'm a nerd and love the statistics before

MBR - my dad has DARK brown eyes, but I have blue eyes. My dad's mom has blue eyes, so he carries the blue eye gene and that's what he gave me. My mom has green eyes, but her mom has blue eyes so she carried the gene too. FI and I both have blue eyes so WOO HOO blue eye babies!

I LOOOOVVVE the name Harper. But I don't think FI would go for it.

    Names I love:
For a girl: MacKayla Elizabeth, Abigail Elizabeth, Siobhan (not sure on the middle name), Kathlyn Elizabeth, Elizabeth Erin, Erin Elizabeth. (Elizabeth being the name of my dear departed aunt. Miss her :-(

For a boy: John Stanley, Alexander Edward, etc. (I haven't really thought about the boy names so much - I'm hoping for a girl, lol)

FI haven't really had the name discussion yet - we're still working on planning the wedding, so TTC will come later. Not that that's stopped me from thinking about it...

Oh my goodness. I am in love with just about all of these names.

    FI and I have chosen:

    Boy -- Jasper Chase
Girl -- Stella Rayne, Vera Rose, Eva Claire, or Charlotte Adrianna... please don't steal them haha. I love girlyyyyy names. FI's favorite is the first and I love them all haha.

I've always loved Audrey for a girl, but we call our kitty Aubrey (Aubergine) soooo not really an option anymore.

Ditto ladies... I'm too nervous to share names, even on here. DH and I agree on some things. I like more gender-neutral names and he likes more traditional (boring) names. Sadly, many of the names I gravitate toward sound horrible with our last name.

We've also decided when we do get pregnant, we'll find out the gender and share that, but we won't share the name with anyone until the baby is born. This includes our parents and my mother. I've heard my mother judge the names of her friend's grandkids enough that I don't want to give her the opportunity to ruin a name that we love by her hating it. Sorry mama.

Haha, good point. FI used to teach with someone named Shevon. Her parents wanted to name her Siobhan until someone pronounced in wrong, so they spelled it phonetically. I can't believe I didn't think of that story. I think I may have just "forgotten" it because I love the name so much, hehe
