Vent: We had a wedding celebration here yesterday and my boss ordered mini cupcakes for me. I saved 3 for the woman I sit next to because she left work early that day. Some assshole ate the cupcakes overnight!! I AM LIVID.

Confession: I've had butterflies in my stomach the past few days because all of the sudden the wedding feels so real Laughing

AW: My bach party is on Friday and I'm so excited!!

TCT-- I have been eyeing those shoes up in Tan for a while now. I think they might have to be my 30th birthday present to myself.

Amy & Ev-  if anyone asks if you are soooo excited just give them a deadpan no.   ;)

    Bean-- those invites are lovely!

People decorate their doors on the cruises because 1) It helps you find your way when you are stumbling back to your room late at night and there is an endless hallway of identical doors before you, 2) it helps people from the meetup groups that form on the DISBoards find each other, and 3) It's cute.  Some people go crazy and have their doors covered floor to ceiling magnets.  Some groups will actually do door-decorating contests.  I am just cheesy.  Here's one of six billion threads from those boards that shows off what people have done...

    http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1795603

I should find a photo of our door from our HM.  We came with nothing, but since people knew it was our HM a ton of DISBoard people actually made us magnets and stealthily put them on our door for us - very cute.

Vent: I figured out one of the reasons why my invitations were stupid expensive.  The f*&%ing woman who designed them ordered 200 return cards.  For 100 invitations.  WHAT. THE. EFF.  I didn't realize it until I was putting postage on all of them last night.  I was about to throw things.  The fact that I didn't listen to my gut and have ANY ONE ELSE do my invitations is really upsetting me now.  Thanks, Dad, for pressuring me into this one.

    Dear Paprika,

I think Gzilla and Dirty Brad Paisley are the same person, because he hates that I read Hyperbole & a Half and he doesn't get it at all.  Meanwhile, I'm CRYING because I'm laughing so hard.  At old posts.

Dear "Big Mike" from jiffy lube,
Changing the oil in my jeep is the *ONLY* thing you can do for me, and these "big blue eyes" of mine.  Grunting and looking me up and down is disgusting and made me want to shower when I got home.  I will not be back when you have "more time to work on my Jeep" for things it does not need.

    Thanks,
The returning customer that will never return... AGAIN

    Dear FI,
You are a mechanic and it's ridiculous I even have to go to Jiffy Lube to get an oil change.

    Love,
You FI that doesn't like getting hit on by guys named "big mike"

Nicole - I don't understand why Aunt's brother has to contact your boss???  Isn't there a spot on the app that you check/uncheck whether they can contact your current employer?  That would piss me off.  Reality is that they probably need you in that office more than it's worth to spite you.  I doubt you'll get fired, but bossman may not be extremely pleasant.

LRM - I consider myself a big kid, but boy you just blew me away with the magnets. LOL  wow.  I hope you enjoy every second of your cruise though.

Hil - I forget if there is a box to contact your current employer on this one. But her brother still has some say in the company, not to make decisions but Bossman goes to him for advice, so I don't know if it was a heads up or what. I want to try and get some info out of my aunt but hate to put her in the middle.
And you are dead on about them needing me! Anyone can pick up anyone else slack in this office but mine because he don't want anyone else to see the numbers. He makes quick decisions based on emotions all the time, that is the only thing that worries me!

Do it! I tried them on in tan b/c Kohls had my size - but the coral were perfect for the dress - they are amazing comfortable for how high the heel is.

I promise that our door will not look nearly that crazy!  Of course, you are all welcome to defriend me on Facebook and pretend you don't know me now if you'd like.  I really am still trying to find photos of our door form the HM cruise...
  • edited December 2011
LRM - Ding Dang.  I've been on quite a few cruises, but have never seen anything like that.  Actually, have never seen door decorations at all.  Reminds me of college dorms.  I guess Disney cruises are a completely different beast.

Speaking of....DH and I are now looking into cruises for our vacation in August.

LRM - Do you buy magnets on the ship during the week to add on? Love the ring magnet from ou HM!
  • edited December 2011
Cara...I should just take photos of other people's doors on this cruise.  On the HM we felt like freaks for not having crazy stuff coming off our door in all directions.  People with adjoining rooms had had like, multi-plate murals going where each door was symmetrical and themed and stuff.  I am now regretting not getting photos of this for your amusement two years ago.
  • edited December 2011
nicole - and now we reach the true depths of my confession - you make the magnets pre-cruise on your own.  Staples sells magnets printer paper, or you can also buy adhesive sticky magnet sheets or just glue magnets on to laminated paper.  There are literally professional graphic designers, as well as ameteurs who just like photoshop, who have threads on the DISBoards who will povide you with clip art or will personalize or custom-create stuff for you.  The insanity knows no bounds.

I confess that these are my favorite.  *sheepishly sneaks away, cries under tables while RA points and laughs*

Cara - What cruises have you been done?  Any favs?  DH and I have been talking about doing a cruise at some point since it would be so easy for us to leave out of Baltimore.  I just have no idea where I'd want to go for our first cruise.

Oh god, the pins.  I refuse to get wrapped up in the pins.  We had friends who went on the first Panama Canal cruise that Disney ever did, and they released special commemorative pins for the passage through the canal on the date it happened.  There are people who spent ALL DAY/ALL NIGHT waiting in line and camping out in front of the gift sops to get these pins.  Are you kidding me?  You're on vacation paying for that comfy bed so you can actually see the Panama Canal, not so you can take home a pin to commemorate something you never actually experienced firsthand which you wil then proceed to sell for profit on ebay.  WTF, crazy Disney people. I also do not get the point of the trading of the pins.  Just go the park and ride the rides, people.

Jess - since you are a captive audience, you should also consider doing a Fish Extender gift exchange if you do a Disney Cruise.  You buy a little pocket organizer to hang off the fish next to your door (which Disney uses to send you notes/your room bill/reminders about dinner reservations and stuff), and then people do a gift exchange by sneaking things into the pockets.  Google "fish extender" on ebay or etsy and let the amaement begin. Sometimes people will give things realted to geography - we gave out tastykakes on our honeymoon, which was a HUGE hit - and other times people will just do things that are fun or useful for the cruise, like temporary tatoos for the pirate party, candy, emergency travel kits, magnets for your door, whatever.  The crazy folk will get crafty; we got little mini scrapbooks from someone, a CD of all the music they play on the ship...it's actually quite fun.

    Dear Private Collection,

Please send my dress to B&TS.  The ETA was Monday.  I'm getting antsy.  It has already been more than the 4 months it was supposed to take for the dress to come in... and I really really want it to be here, because I keep having nightmares that something is going to be wrong with it and I don't know why. kthxbai.

    Dear Daphne,

Why do you think it's better to be outside?  You hate being cold and love everything soft and warm.  The last time you got out, you wouldn't leave us alone for a second when you got back.  You followed us everywhere and sat on our laps the moment we would sit down.  Tonight, please come out of your hiding spot and find your way to the delicious food we left for you.  I hope you don't remember the fact that you will be enclosed in a little cage once you get to the food, but don't worry, we will wake up and bring you inside where everything is warm and soft and you have all the food you want.  I miss you!
    Love, your mommy
