I got a Barnes and Noble Gift Card from our family pollyanna and I'm in need of some new books to read...

Any suggestions?

I'm trying desperately to get back into reading regularly.  So sad, but the last book I finished was this past March, I think.

I'm currently almost halfway through Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go.  Its supposed to be wonderful. So far I really have no idea what its about, but I'm enjoying it!

I just finished The Time Travelers Wife. It was hard to get into but it was good.

What type of books do you like to read? I just started Mitch Albom Have a Little Faith. DH bought me two of the Chelsea Handler books for Christmas.

I just read Shutter Island (Dennis Lehane) and loved it. I am still unsure if I want to see the movie for fear it will ruin how awesome the story is in my imagination.

Madam A - have you read Lehane's Mystic River?  SO good.  The movie was awesome, but the book was really great on its own.

I like his style too.  Its probably a different kind of story than Shutter Island. If I'm thinking correctly, Shutter Island has a paranormal twist?  Mystic River is a cop/murder/friendship/thriller type story.

I liked the movie version of Time Traveler's Wife but didn't read the book. The movie made me cry like a baby...

Cara - Shutter Island is not so much paranormal as psychological...

Have you read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins? It's a young adult trilogy but they're really good and actually well written. They're getting ready to turn them into a movie. I like anything by Chuck Palahnuik as well, Diary and Survivor are probably my favorites.

I didn't know Shutter Island was a book. I liked the movie, now I want to read the book but I know it won't be the same:\

I feel like a high schooler. I'm a sucker for any and all Nicholas Sparks books and there's a line called 'blue bloods' that I love.

I should clarify... I hate twilight, with a passion, and started reading these because I thought they were fun easy reading books. They're actually quite good and easy to get in to. The Luxe series is good too.

Obviously, I buy my books in the 'young readers' section. haha. Don't let it fool you, i made it through 'the davinci code' in two days. I looove reading, i just prefer romantic comedies, or historical romances. But not straight romance novels.

Oh I'm such a reader.  I read anything you put in front of me.

My favorite book series (I love book series...) is the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon.  It's not a cheesy romance novel.  It's a historical fiction novel that centers around a couple.  Takes place in 1740s Scotland... and it's amazing. I read the first book (which is about 800 pages) in 2 days.

My favorite fantasy/sci-fi-ish series is are the Southern Vampire Mysteries...aka the Sookie Stackhouse books.  They're much lighter than True Blood is, but I love both of them for different reasons.

My favorite fun series is the Stephanie Plum series.  The first one is One for the Money... then it's Two for the Dough (you get the picture).  They're really fast reads.

If you like Historical Fiction, then buy everything Rosalind MIles has ever written, specifically the Guinevere series (first is Guinevere, Queen of the Sumer Country) and her Tristan & Isolde series (first is Isolde, Queen of the Western Isle)
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

hahaha I've read a ton of nicholas sparks books.  I'm actually a Jodi Picoult junkie- but I try to branch out and she doesn't have any new ones out now ;)

I can't get into any twilight/hunger games type series. I've tried and just can't get into them.

I just finished 'One Day' by David Nicholls...it was really good.

I like these books once in awhile. Next on my list is "The Boleyn Inheritance" by Phillipa Gregory . She wrote The Other Boleyn Girl, which I LOVED (way better than the movie).

I have The Constant Princess by her... and I had such a hard time getting into it.  I also have the Wideacre Trilogy by Phillipa Gregory... and now I'm scared to read it.  Apparently if incest grosses you out.... you shouldn't read them.  So now I have them, but I'm afraid to open them. lol.

Recovering, you just gave me some great ideas for books. I'm kinda itching to get to the library.

I'd download them on my phone, but I'm such a big fan of the experience of holding a book... reading the words, feeling the paper between you fingers... even the smell of most library books...

Yeah. That sounds like library porn. Forget me.
