Tipping

Specific tipping question...
My photographer owns his business, so, from what I've read, I don't need to tip him. He has a second shooter coming to work with him. Do I tip the second shooter? I am thinking yes, but is that weird to tip one and not the other?

I would definitely tip the second shooter.  I would feel weird about tipping one and not the other, too... so IDK.

Sidenote--Bean are you FREAKING OUT as much as I am?  Because I'm a little freaking out.

Yes, I am definitely FREAKING OUT (in capitals!). My mom is seriously stressing me. She hasn't gotten her dress yet. She hasn't finished calling all the people on her invite list who haven't RSVPed. She also decided to have a blow out fight with a very close friend (as in they haven't talked in 3 weeks) and I was just told that they will no longer be coming to the wedding. Gah!

I am right with you on the freaking out!!!

From what I've heard from others, I think we would just tip the second shooter. I would think the photographer would be used to it and would understand, though I know what you mean about it being a little weird to do just the one.

I guess I'll just try and get the tip to the second shooter when the other isn't in the room or isn't paying attention. That will keep the awkwardness level down, at least.

I'm still waiting on 8 RSVPs.  I have kind of started seating, but things have changed, so it's all getting revised AGAIN.  I still have to get gifts for the readers, cantor, organist, etc.   I have kind of started programs.  I haven't gotten the marriage license (and have NO IDEA when that's going to happen!).

I still haven't done my makeup trial (it's happening tomorrow I think) and my sister and I haven't played with my hair yet (next week).  I just read awful reviews about our honeymoon hotel and am a little nervous about that.

Luckily... next week.. my sister and I are getting massages.  Much needed massages.  I just need to make it to next week.  And then I need to make it to the rehearsal.  One week at a time.

Ugh that sucks about your 8 RSVPs. We have all but one, but we also have less guests than you (100). We're getting our license tomorrow morning, which is such a pain cause we'll have to go early and then be late for work. Make sure you bring cash for the license!

We still have to choose our readers, finish our WP gifts, finish ceremony programs since my dog tore 10 of them up, make our guest book, table names, escort cards and manzanita tree. Ahh my stomach is in knots! Shoot, I need a rehearsal dress!

And about your hotel, you'll find bad reviews on everything, some people are not happy no matter what. As long as there are good reviews, I wouldn't worry too much.

It makes me feel a lot better that you girls still have things to do too!

RA - I wouldn't worry about the hotel reviews. I have been to great hotels with lousy reviews and lousy hotels with great reviews. We went to one of the top rated hotels in the DR last summer and had dirty rooms, bad service, and got food poisoning.

I have my bachelorette from Thursday-Sunday - I'm so excited! I still have to finish up the seating chart, do escort cards, table names, OOT bags, make ceremony programs (this might get skipped), figure out a headcount and figure out food/drinks for our "Welcome to Philly" BBQ the Friday before the wedding and find some time to get our marriage license. Overwhelming!

I don't exactly have a whole lot of cash lying around for tipping. I've read on here and other places that if someone owns their own business, you are not expected to tip. If he goes above and beyond and I can scrounge up some money, then I will happily tip him. But, in the meantime, I want to make sure I tip his employee, who is not getting the $4K I am paying the business owner.

Yeah I think the business owner usually isn't tipped because they set their own prices and are getting a lot more money. I agree, if the person really did more than expected I would try to give them something extra, but if we're just talking about what the standard thing to do is, without knowing whether they'll go above and beyond I would say just plan to tip the second shooter.

Bean, when is your rehearsal? It was kinda tricky to schedule for a Sunday wedding. We're doing ours Friday morning and then doing a BBQ at my FILs. Some of the WP had to take off work, which I felt bad about but I don't think they really minded.

Our rehearsal is Saturday. Luckily, my venue is hosting some big golf thing that Saturday, so they didn't take any weddings that evening and we can use the spot to rehearse.

We're doing a big BBQ on Friday, since so many of our family members and friends are coming into town that day (they are skipping work too - I don't think anyone really minds taking the Friday before a long weekend off!). Then Saturday is fun day with friends - golfing for boys and nails for girls -, rehearsal, and rehearsal dinner.

Haha. It does sound like a lot but I'm hoping for me it won't be too awful because I'll have two weeks off of work before the wedding.

Ooo you're taking two weeks off before? That sounds amazing! Are you honeymooning right after too?

I envy your ability to take 2 weeks off.  I so wish I could do that.  I am getting the day before the wedding off... and even then, I have a sinking feeling that I will still end up having to come in, or Gzilla will have to come in.  I swear to Pete, if we are here on July 1... they will learn a whole new meaning to the term bridezilla. lol.

I'm already having anxiety about the week leading up to the wedding and how stressful work is going to be.  Holiday weekends are not fun around here.  I really wish we had known when we picked this date that Gzilla and I would be working together... because we'd so pick a different date.

Ah that sucks, RA! I cannot imagine an added stress at that time.

I can take off cause I work in a school so I have all summer off :) FI is only taking a day or two off before the wedding and then for the honeymoon right after. It will be nice to have the house to myself to get things done!

When we picked the date, Gzilla was teaching.  So it made sense at the time.  It doesn't now, but oh well.  We didn't know.  And the children (coworkers) are going to have to learn to adapt without us. lol.
