dress fitting shocker

So, I had my first dress fitting yesterday. It went really well, although apparently all my running since January has resulted in quite a few alterations. The dress has to be taken in several inches, and was also about 2 inches too long, but has 4 separate layers that will all need to be hemmed, with pretty intricate detail work.

So, the shocker. I was told originally that alterations average $300. Of course I had to pay up front yesterday, to the tune of $480!!! Yikes!!  Once I got over the initial shock i could focus on the positive in that the seamstress is sooo good, and has done alterations on my specific dress MANY times. She was able to show my mom the best way to bustle and it will be just perfect. I'll just be eating bologna and ramen noodles for the next few months. Agh...

  • Wow!! But that must make you feel good!!!

My dress has a corset, tie up in the back so I have some room to gain or lose weight, not very much though! We are doing ours with a friend who is a tailor and she usually gives us discounts. We'll see!!
