Ceremony Music

What are you walking down the aisle to?  Also, what are you using for your Processional and Recessional?

Anyone using Wagner's Wedding March for your entrance?  I originally wanted to use Cannon in D for myself b/c it was the signature piece for my ballet company growing up and pretty sentimental.  The thing is,  we went to 2 weddings last month and both of the brides walked to Cannon in D.  I feel like I want something different now.  My mom really likes the Wedding March but I'm not so sure.

For the Processional I'm thinking either  Jesu, Joy of Mans Desiring or Voluntary.

For the Recessional, I have a list:
Ode to Joy
Mouret
Wedding March or
Hornpipe from Water Music

I just can't decide!

Thanks Ladies!

I like Jesu Joy of Mans Desiring, but I'm using Debussy's Clair de Lune for the BM processional and Silvestri's Forrest Gump Suite for mine.  We're recessing to Stevie Wonder's Signed Sealed Delivered... obviously not a church wedding.

This is really hard on me b/c I'm a ballet teacher and know tons on classical songs that I'd love to use.  If we were not having a church wedding, Clair de Lune would have been first on my list.  Beautiful son.  You're recessional sounds like so much fun!

I've got VERY untraditional music (esp since we're not having a traditional ceremony).

FI's favorite band is Coheed and Cambria (and I love them too - only they're in my top 5 not my #1). So since the lyrics are SO not wedding material - we happened to find the music to my favorite album of theirs by the Vitamin String Quartet. If you've never heard of them, youtube or itunes it. They are amazing (they've also done Paramore, AC/DC, etc.)

So while the guests are arriving a few songs will be playing from the In Keeping Secrets album, the bridal party will walk down the aisle to my fav. song "Three Evils", I'll be walking down to ironically enough "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain (Vitamin String Quartet version) and the Recessional will be another song from the In Keeping Secrets album.

FI and I figured it was the best way to include something he loved without coming off as terrifying - C&C are rather dark, and the music to the songs sans lyrics works so perfectly!

I choreographed my senior dance piece to Coheed and Cambria.  That sounds neat.

Really? Which one? I tell FI all the time that their music would make either a great ballet (or lyrical) number!

Neverender.  One of my professors actually pulled me aside to see if there was anything I needed to talk about.  She thought I was depressed lol.  Looking back, maybe I was a little but I guess dance got me through whatever it was.

The dance was pretty much about an inner battle fought through nightmares.  There was a soloist and a trio of girls behind her.  The girls represented the soloists thoughts/fears/struggles.   It made sense to me at the time.  I guess that does make me sound a little confused.
I was proud of it though.

non-traditional here too.  I was thinking some fun feel-good but not dance smusic while the guests arrive - killers, janis joplin, Mike Ness - a mix of genres.  I haven't decided on all the ceremony music but I think For my walk it will be Icecream by Sarah Mcglaclin (sp?).  I don't know anything about classical music and wouldn't even know where to start so I decided to pick music that is more my style (too bad NIN doesn't have a happy song!).
We'll be playing everything from Phish to Tom Waits to Lady Gaga so why not mix it up in the ceremony too.
