  • Over the past year, on average, what would you rate your happiness level to be? (1 being low, 10 being high)
6 - have had some very high highs, and some very low lows

What would you consider a primary factor to that happiness level?
Tough - Health issues (physical health and fairly bad anxiety), grandpa passed away, dealing with a long distance relationship, financial difficulties at times
Good - Upcoming wedding, first nephew born, excelled at work, taking better care of my health

what is something that is guaranteed to get you down/in a funk?
When I have too many things on my plate and feel overwhelmed/disorganized

what is something that is guaranteed to make you feel better/lift you up?
My kitties, excercise, watching something funny, seeing FI or my family

Who do you talk to when you aren't happy?
FI, my parents, my siblings, or my closest friends

Do you compare your happiness to others? (for example, you see what you percieve as Jane Doe being happy and content with her life, which makes you question why you aren't happy or content with yours)
I'm pretty good at not comparing myself to others, in general. Nobody's life is perfect and what makes one person happy won't necessarily make me happy.

Over the past year, on average, what would you rate your happiness level to be? (1 being low, 10 being high) What would you consider a primary factor to that happiness level? Hm, hard to say, so many highs and lows for me-my grandma being so sick is a definite low. Not really feeling goal-orientated with my jobs is a low. Planning a wedding and looking towards the future is a huge high!

what is something that is guaranteed to get you down/in a funk? Feeling like I am not progressing. Hearing bad news all the time from people I care about.

what is something that is guaranteed to make you feel better/lift you up? Good news! Doesn't have to happen to me, just hearing good news or knowing something big has been accomplished always makes my mood lift.

Who do you talk to when you aren't happy?  My mom, FI, and my BF (also my sister and MOH)

Do you compare your happiness to others? (for example, you see what you percieve as Jane Doe being happy and content with her life, which makes you question why you aren't happy or content with yours) I have in the past, all the time, and I have come to realize you can't prop yourself up by living through others or feeling what you have is lesser than what others have or accomplished. It is great to be happy for people, but you cannot let their happiness or success make your situation feel less or meaningless.

  • Over the past year, on average, what would you rate your happiness level to be? (1 being low, 10 being high) What would you consider a primary factor to that happiness level?  It's probably somewhere around a 7 on average, had a few bumps in the road.  Grandma passed away just about a year ago, some health issues from FI's grandparents and father.  Also had a horrible job that I hated and cried every day last year but I changed jobs and now really am happy, but still not 100% happy, but I doubt that will ever happen.

what is something that is guaranteed to make you feel better/lift you up? It depends sometimes working out, eating comfort foods, having a glass of wine, a night to sleep it off, a good cry

Who do you talk to when you aren't happy? Usually FI or my BFF

Do you compare your happiness to others? Yes and I know I shouldn't but I usually do it when I'm down and I'm like ugh I wish I could just be happy with my life like x.

  • Over the past year, on average, what would you rate your happiness level to be? (1 being low, 10 being high) What would you consider a primary factor to that happiness level? Is was very low for several months in the Fall, but lately it's been really good, so I guess around 6.5 on average. Good factors: FI and our relationship; wedding planning. Bad factors: living so far from family and friends; difficulties adjusting to the culture here (UK).

what is something that is guaranteed to get you down/in a funk? Missing my friends and family. Encountering ppl with bad attitudes. If FI is stressed or in a bad mood. Just missing America.

what is something that is guaranteed to make you feel better/lift you up? Taking a weekend away with FI.

Who do you talk to when you aren't happy? FI... my mom... sometimes you girls :)

Do you compare your happiness to others? Not really.

  • Over the past year, on average, what would you rate your happiness level to be? (1 being low, 10 being high) What would you consider a primary factor to that happiness level? I would say it has been at a 7 or 8. I have had a lot of positive things going for me this year...graduation and wedding. But I've also had some not so good things...health issues, Grandma's health, etc. I'd say the good outweighed the bad, for sure.

what is something that is guaranteed to get you down/in a funk? Feeling overwhelmed, lonely, or inadequate, rude people, bad news

what is something that is guaranteed to make you feel better/lift you up? Shopping, spending time with my FI, family, or friends, exercising.

Who do you talk to when you aren't happy? I usually keep things to myself. Bad, I know. FI can always tell when something is bothering me and he'll usually drag it out of me. Like a typical guy he tries to give me advice instead of just hugging me or listening, which is all I want sometimes.

Do you compare your happiness to others? (for example, you see what you percieve as Jane Doe being happy and content with her life, which makes you question why you aren't happy or content with yours) Admittedly, I do this and I know I shouldn't. It is easy to forget how good we have it. FI and I have educations, jobs, a house, loving and supportive friends and family, a little extra money for luxuries, and more. That is more than a lot of people have, so I am very thankful. I also know that some people who, by all appearances, have the "perfect life" are not content. You never know what happens behind closed doors.

  • Over the past year, on average, what would you rate your happiness level to be? (1 being low, 10 being high) What would you consider a primary factor to that happiness level? - Average, 8, probably.  I'm having a a REALLY good year, and it would be a 10 if it wasn't for the stress that all of the positive changes have brought with them.

what is something that is guaranteed to get you down/in a funk? - Thinking about money.  I can't deal with it.

what is something that is guaranteed to make you feel better/lift you up? - Puppies.  Seriously.

Who do you talk to when you aren't happy? - FI, obvi.  He's a very good listener for a boy and he never judges me.  If i need a girl's ear I have a few friends I call depending on the issue.

Do you compare your happiness to others? (for example, you see what you percieve as Jane Doe being happy and content with her life, which makes you question why you aren't happy or content with yours) - I try not to but sometimes I can't help it.  Especially with social networking, peoples' lives are always in your face.  It's hard not to compare.

  • Over the past year, on average, what would you rate your happiness level to be? (1 being low, 10 being high) What would you consider a primary factor to that happiness level? Probably around a 6.  I lost my teaching job and my grandma and grandpa passed away.  I took my grandmother's death pretty hard. My grandfather recently passed away, but it was different b/c he had Alzheimer's and his quality of life was so low.  Due to the Alzheimer's, I felt like he was already gone because he didn't know who anyone was.  I also ended up taking a huge paycut this year which was super stressful.  My career definitely plummeted, but getting engaged to FI and having a lot of other weddings to go to has definitely made up for work issues. Planning this wedding has saved me and kept me happy. FI has also been nothing but amazing in terms of supporting me.

what is something that is guaranteed to get you down/in a funk? mostly just stressing over finances.

what is something that is guaranteed to make you feel better/lift you up? Lots of things! Being with FI, having girls' nights, family gatherings, working out, wine, cooking :)

Who do you talk to when you aren't happy? FI, my mom, good friends

Do you compare your happiness to others? (for example, you see what you percieve as Jane Doe being happy and content with her life, which makes you question why you aren't happy or content with yours) I never compare myself to others' happiness b/c overall I'm very happy with how my life is. I feel very settled with FI and we are looking forward to our future together.
