July 2012 Weddings

wedding in july. need help on a VERY important decision!!!!

My wedding will be in the beginning of July.  My fiancee is in military and will finally get leave time in July.  Our wedding colors are White, bright yellow and a deep brown. The flowers are sunflowers, white roses and cala lillies.  We know this really pretty place close to our church called the prayer garden that we would love to get married at but wondering about the temp. and our guests are wearing basically church clothes i guess you could say (its a simple country wedding)
DO yall think its a bad or good idea to be outside around sunset????

Hi SailorWife!  I don't live in Houston, so I don't know what summers are like there.  Maybe try asking the Texas ladies on your local board to the left?
  • i agree - not sure what exactly the temperature would be like!! i have spent some time near Houston and don't remember it being unbearably hot at night...if that is your only concern maybe check some weather histories or talk to friends in the area about what they think? because otherwise, i think it sounds GORGEOUS - especially in the sunset :)
  • I live in Oklahoma so our weather is fairly close. Honestly, if I was your guest I would hate to be outside at that time of the year. Last year the temps were well into the 105-110 range. You can't bank on the fact that it will be cooled down by sunset ( I don't remember it ever being cool at that time last year) I would say go for an indoor wedding.

  • Also, will there be a lot of bugs?  I think that could spoil a lot of things too.
  • Is this just for the ceremony or would you hold the reception outdoors, too?  If it's just for the ceremony, it may be ok as long as it is around sunset, you provide the guests with fans, and have water for them.  If it's for the reception, too, that might be a bit much in the heat.

  • I attended a wedding last summer at the end of July, in College Station. It was VERY hot, even at sunset. But luckly, the ceremony only lasted about 15 mintues, plus they gave us fans to cool off with. But we were all still sweating by the time the reception started inside. Personally, being from Austin and knowing how humid and hot it can be in the summer, I wouldn't do any of it outside. But that's just my thoughts! It sounds like it will be a beautiful ceremony either way!
