invitation help

Where do I even start with invitations?  I have no idea what I want and I am not very creative so I don't see myself making the do it yourself invitations which seems to be what all my friends who just recently got married have done.  Where can I go for reasonable invitations?  What is the average pricing?

Re: invitation help

  • start with a wedding color or theme then pick invitations. or pick invitations and use that theme.
I started by just browsing ideas on different sites.
I know my friends ordered theirs from

I had my mom's friend print ours (she does these professionally) after I picked the colors for the wedding.

    Hope that helps!

  • Vista print and Zazzle have some good things to look at

  • I just got mine from VistaPrint and I love them. I ordered my Save The Dates from them as well. Other websites I looked at were The American Wedding, Wedding Paper Divas, and Magnet Street.

  • You could also go to a stationery and look through their books for ideas.  You don't have to order from them, but it's good to see them in person so you can see what the paper looks and feels like.  If you have trouble imagining, it can be really good to see in those big huge books. Paper on Pine, the Papery, Papyrus -- all those sorts of places.  They're not the cheapest (I'm still figuring out what my cheapest options would be), but they're great so you can figure out what you like and don't like!

  • I am with you on invitations!  My mom is helping me with that part of the plans because she's a rockstar. I don't see the point of spending a lot on them, but I wouldn't mind if we could find cute ones either. Know what I mean?

I did see the ones at Michaels that I thought looked nice (at least in the box.) I went onto the budget board, and girls were saying to shop out places like Kinkos to print them for like $30 and they were able to keep their invites and inserts to $1 per set. So, I may consider that.

David's Bridal has a range of options. I am looking for about ~100 invites and we figured out for ones with a ribbon, it'd be about $175 total. I still think I can do better than that $ though.

I also heard local printers might be the way to go... I haven't started scheduling appointments to confirm if that's for real or not.

I found watercolor invites that I REALLY liked from Wedding Paper Diva, but once you add the inserts, ect., I can think of a lot better things to do with the $$.

I also flirted with the idea of doing an online response OR postcards for return. My venue and church are both have old charm, so I could go the vintage postcard route and that could be cute.
  • I used VistaPrint and love them.  If you go to retailmenot.com and type in vistaprint, you can get 50% off plus free shipping on orders over $50.  I got all of my invites, envelopes, and mailing labels for less than $100.
